I attended The Legends of Golf last week and really enjoyed watching the old guys. Monty looks quite fit actually, I'd guess he's weighing in at less than 220 lbs.............about 50 or 60 less than Fuzzy! Lots of good golf to watch. Stadler and Hall Sutton have not been hitting the fitness trailer. Woody Austin's game looks quite good. Monty, David Frost, Roger Chapman, and Jesper all looked to be playing quite well.

Fun event.

.............and Jack is still awesome to watch, birdied the final hole in front of a huge gallery.

I was lucky enough to play in the Legends of Golf Pro Am. I spent three days around dozens and dozens of tour players. Hit balls next to Kenny Perry, Davis Love, Ben Crenshaw, David Frost. Took a selfie of myself and Tom Watson, walked out of the bathroom at Dogwood Canyon and literally bumped into Jack Nicklaus, walked around the World Wildlife museum behind Craig Stadler. I got to play golf with Mark Wiebe (nicest man I've ever met in my life) and Scott Hoch. Unfortunately I was unable to attend any of the tournament (too bad because I had a VIP pass for the week) but I know a handful of people who went and each one of them came back with stories of how the "Legends" (Nicklaus, Player, Watson) interacted with them or their kids during the event and made them feel special. All of the Professionals I met were truly class acts and raved about how great the event was and how nice all the volunteers were. All the Pros there were there to promote the game, interact with the fans and to have a good time.

I'm sorry I just don't see John Daly in the same realm as any of these gentlemen. He may be able to sell a few tickets but there's no way I feel like he would bring anything valuable to the Champions Tour.

That's exactly why the Champions Tour needs him. Not just because he hits it a mile but because he is such a departure from the norm, although maybe not as much as we think. I also think he will be very good with the patrons and the kids. Always has been as far as I can tell. His struggles are self inflicted but, from what I can see, he doesn't take it out on those around him. I suspect he's probably a lot more gregarious than some past and present champions tour players. Nothing you mentioned doesn't fit John Daly. Promote the game, interact with fans, and have a good time? Right up his alley.

Why do some people and the media kinda celebrate JD's party lifestyle, or at least find it humorous, but Johnny football is severely frowned upon? Not that either is right or wrong, but just the difference in public opinion is interesting to me,

Because Daly is a good old country boy. Hard living, hard playing, long ball hitter. Heavy set guy with huge fluid swing and, according to his peers, more talent than just about anybody else. Gives the impression that he just doesn't give a damn. He could be a country song.

Manziel is a spoiled little rich kid.

Heck, JD WROTE a country song!!!!! He even has a pretty good voice. Didn't like seeing him smash a guitar, musical instruments deserve more respect, just my opinion. One other thing, for all JD's faults and flaws, he never disrespected his sport. Manziel did.

Just watched the 3 part coverage of the 91 pga on YouTube while I drank my coffee and it just reminded me of how good that kid was. We will never Know the greatness that we all missed out on due to his life choices. It's truly sad , he had every tool x10. I mean I just watched him walk in birdie putt after birdie putt. Some from 40 feet or more. He's walking them in while still 10 feet out. And I had forgot he donated a big chunk of the 91 winnings to the scholarship fund of the daughters of the man who was killed by lightning during the 1st round. The guy just seemed to have such a good soul , it's terrible that he chose the hard road he did. I for one think it's a sin to squander a gift like that , I hope he has a life that's long enough to balance out any of the bad that I'm sure plagues his mind. Long live long john !!

He has his own vodka company I believe it's suppose to be two bottles of his company's booze.

Hell he might lead the tour in driving accuracy. He hit iron off the tee most of the time and was still as long as the other guys hitting driver. He shot -2 but that is about as bad as he could have scored as well hit the ball. He left a few out there for sure. He looked like he really was having a good time. If he keeps it up he will be successful on the old tour.
