Golf Club of New England

Hello fellow New Englanders!

I live in southern Maine, right in between The Ledges and Links at Outlook; I love both courses. I would really like to get on to play The Golf Club of New England. Is there anyone on here that can help with that?

I know my golf etiquette, I don't wear cargo shorts ;), and I play to about a 13 handicap right now. My schedule is flexible; I'd like to get on sometime this playing season.

Any leads?

If only you had asked last year ;-) They have a try-before-you-buy membership, and I availed myself of that last year through a connection with a friend. It's going to tough to find - they only have about 80 members there.

It's a fantastic course, though; a great layout and the best set of 4 finishing holes of any course I can think of.

Well, shoot!

I think my best bet would be getting on when the Seacoast Amateur goes back over there.

RE: last 4 holes - I've only played Wentworth by the Sea once, and I will go back again this summer, but I think 14, 15, 16, and 18 are some of the prettiest/best holes I've played on the seacoast. Just gorgeous. I'd love to see how the last four at GCNE look.

It's been a long time since I've played Wentworth, so I don't remember those holes. I do remember liking the course a lot, but a lot of that is because of the beautiful property it sits on. I wasn't really in tune with thinking about architecture and design when I played, so I don't have an opinion there. But the final 4 holes at GCNE rival just about any that I've played, and make match play VERY interesting, since they can all play tough.

I think the Seacoast Am would be a pleasant day if you want to see GCNE - it's my favorite course in that area.
