Best Hybrid From Years Past?

Titleist 909. I am not even a titleist guy and picked this up on a whim. I have since purchased probably 5 hybrids looking for newer technology and chasing something. They have all gone away and the 909H is firmly a resident in the bag (for now). I will challenge her yearly but the 915 and the 816 couldn't beat it. Just a consistent club for me. It's old, beat up, sky marks (got it used on ebay for like $50 4-5 years ago or so when I started playing again. She just performs.

Titleist 585. Almost every other hybrid I try always wants to go left.

My 17° Adams black superhybrid.it's a draw club forsure,I have lead tape on the toe as well as 2 wraps under the grip to help with the lefts.monster off the tee and fairway.I hit range balls 250 yards carry to the net.I have short par 4 at a short course I've over hit 270 with it.out drive alot of guys with it. I just replaced it in the bag with a biocell+ 5w since it is adjustable.I needed something better I between my 3w and 4i

The original SLDR TP hybrid continues to be the only hybrid I can consistently hit dependably. It's weird because it's like, my favorite / go-to club

 

Whenever I try any other hybrids they go every conceivable direction and trajectory.

 

I'm a 3 handicap if that matters.

I wander away at times, but I always come back to my Cobra DWS Baffler hybrids. They're just money. Not the longest, but they're just so easy to hit from any lie.

 

+1 and I would add the Cobra tws (stock dvs shaft) and the Ping G25.

I'm a big fan of the titleist 909h. Prefer it leaps and bounds over the 585

 

Another vote for the 909h... I keep trying other hybrids, even 3 irons and no hybrids at times, but the 909h just works for me. Not the longest but it sounds and feels great and it just seems to do everything I want it to. I have tried the 913, 915, TM rescues, Bridgestone J40, Ping G25, Anser (also pretty good), but the 909 is my favorite.

The Rescue TP 2007 were some of the best hybrids ever made in my opinion. I still have an 18 and 21 in my TM bag.

I second the love for the Cleveland Mashies, but I've got a 19* and 22* Adams Idea a7 in the bag and don't see them going anywhere soon. Great ball flight and consistent distance.

I'm fully invested in the 909h. I have all the lofts, with matching shafts, so I can fill gaps between whatever irons and whatever woods I am playing.

 

Just good solid clubs that do what I expect them to do.

How do you compare the Adams Idea to the Cleveland Mashie ?

I have never swung an Adams hybrid but the Mashie is the only hybrid I have played that with a smooth tempo gentle swing produces high trajectory soft landing shots.

Sounds like we have a similar trajectory... I preferred the feel of the Mashie and it was fantastic out of the rough, but if I went after them at all they shot straight up in the air, at least as high as my lob wedge. That wouldn't have been a problem except that I lost a couple clubs in distance. The Adams fit me much better, the flight is still high, but strong, and gets out there pretty well. Balls are usually a few feet from their pitch mark.
