Best Hybrid From Years Past?

Several Ping G10 listed b4 me - I lucked out when my 21 came new with a UST PF V2 Hi Launch shaft back in 2010.

 

I still also hold onto both an 18 & 21 of TaylorMade SF 2.0s. They are so easy to get off turf, sound crisp and just drop softly. The black version of SF one year b4 is identical, mine is the first season of TM white.

I vote for Nickent. I am still playing 3dx DCs 20 and 23.

I second the love for the Cleveland Mashies, but I've got a 19* and 22* Adams Idea a7 in the bag and don't see them going anywhere soon. Great ball flight and consistent distance.

 

How do you compare the Adams Idea to the Cleveland Mashie ?

I have never swung an Adams hybrid but the Mashie is the only hybrid I have played that with a smooth tempo gentle swing produces high trajectory soft landing shots.

 

Sounds like we have a similar trajectory... I preferred the feel of the Mashie and it was fantastic out of the rough, but if I went after them at all they shot straight up in the air, at least as high as my lob wedge. That wouldn't have been a problem except that I lost a couple clubs in distance. The Adams fit me much better, the flight is still high, but strong, and gets out there pretty well. Balls are usually a few feet from their pitch mark.

 

The Mashie is kind of a "magical club" in how it produces amazing shots. But only from a very smooth tempo swing.

This summer , instead of the Mashie 1, 3, and 4 hybrids I've been playing for a couple of years, I am going to playing driving iron utility clubs in the 2, 3, and 4 iron lofts.. When Fall-Winter comes around I will likely switch back to the playing the Mashie's.

I've seen one post that simply says Callaway DET, OMW has this one slipped under the radar, an awesome hybrid, I played a good few of the Adams hybrids in the past.

I can say without a doubt that these DET hybrids are the best I've played, have mine fitted with V2 hybrid shafts & they are bullet fairway finders, I've just recently bought two 815 Alpha hybrids with Fubuki AX shafts & the jury is still out on wether they are better than the DET!

Titleist 910H, just bought a 21* and 24* that were like new demo clubs, I hith them well on the Sim and then at the range

I would add a vote for the TM rescue 11 series, still have 23.5 which is adjustable down to open the face angle or up to close

What are some of the best hybrids you all have played from years ago? Let's say 2013 or older...I'm going to say Nike Vr Pro, Ping Anser, Titleist 712U and Titleist 585H. Any others?

Adams IDEA Pro.

 

^^^^^^ is the hybrid by which all others are judged. One of the all time great clubs.

 

I've had a bunch of other hybrids--Rescue Dual TP, J33, 07 Rescue TP, 09 Raylor--and keep coming back to this one with the VS Proto shaft. Gave mine away to a buddy and wish I hadn't. Would love to get a bunch of them: 16, 18, 20, 23, just to have around.
