Hey, you boys are really something. I have been on an Australian golf forum for several years and they are morons compared to this.

I love the atmosphere on here, so friendly.

We, that is my love of 41 years and myself, enjoy nothing more than a walk on the beach, a good meal and a few glasses of red.

I am not a good golfer, the game is compulsive though always looking for the next shot to be the good one.

Looking foreward to a pleasant stay on here.

Welcome to WRX Mate. So happy you've pulled a seat at the Grille.

What would you like to order?

Also, is it true that kangaroo's can't hop backwards?

As a newbie, not quite sure what is on the menu. Probably be cold with the distance it has to travel :)

Correct kangaroos can't hop backwards, they are very aggressive if you upset them. Have a few on my local course, they do seem to keep out of the way though. Biggest problem on our course is ducks, they like to graze on the greens and leave plenty of poop when they are finished. Should be a hazard in the local rules.

Thanks for the welcome.

You should see the crap from the Canadian Geese. They're a beautiful bird but they sure make a mess.

I can't imagine seeing a Kangaroo hopping (forwards : ) across a fairway. That has to be cool.

I keed, WishonDaddy. Nice clubs. I have held those Wishons and they are quality clubs.

Give me full figured any day. I prefer many curves to the stick thin.

That being said, I can appreciate that beauty comes in many shapes and sizes.

You grab yourself a "chair" and make yourself at home here. No worries about how your scorecards are looking. We have absolutely zero concerns in this bunch about that one. Friends are the spice of life and you've found them.

Stu,

Seems ridiculous to pull the heads to install internal weights. Now I can look the part of a player when I take off my iron covers. ; )

They really are spectacular irons.

PS - love the look of the new putter (and 8802 style putters in general). How do they play? (anyone can answer this). I've always gravitated toward larger mid-mallet and/or mallet sized heads.

Hey Stu, speaking of blade putters have you ever rolled a Yes! Nicky? 8802 style putter maybe from about ten years ago. I've cheated on it a couple times but I always come back quickly. I prefer blade putters and this one with those C grooves gets the ball rolling smoothly faster than anything else I've ever picked up.

Edit: TOOL'd by the way!

Never have rolled that paticular one but I do have a c grove Yes Dianna. Basically it looks like a long necked Anser. It rolls good in fact I ran the tables one day with it in a money match but then it cooled off a week or so later. I have rolled a "new 8802" with the milled face over at the PGASS for some reason milled faced putters do not have the feel to me including both of my Scottys. I putt pretty well with the Santa Fe but it does not have as aggressive grooves.

I had to take a second look at the new avatar.

With the black T-Shirt, in the background, it looked like a tribute to Mohamad Ali.

glad you noticed that... when I was a kid, I would listen to every match on a little transistor radio... :)

I remember the night of "The Thriller In Manilla" now it was not going to be broadcast live in the USA for some reason. My old man and his cronies had bet heavy money with the Vegas crowd. Now my uncle that was married to his sister was a ham radio buff and my old man asked him if he could pick up the fight on that "high dollar radio" from the Phillipines? No problem he told him. I remember he had about 12 guys crammed into his small camper that was his radio shack as he called it and they had a guy that could translate Phillipino in case they could not get the broadcast in English. They could hear it in English I remember he was picking it up on Armed Forces Radio. Now he was picking it up on a shortwave which I remember was a giant Hallicrafter tube type radio. He had to keep a fan on it to keep it cool. LOL I remember the Phillipino guy getting drunk and passing out behind the shack because he was not needed but they paid him any how. Like I said they were getting the blow by blow which for some reason was not avaible live here in the USA.

Nice work PD - looking fantastic.

A little lead tape can be like that lady with the crooked smile or Cindy Crawford's mole.

Yes indeed Stu - you absolutely affect us very much!

Hey - Anyone ever drilled out in the hosel or the sole of irons to take weight out rather than using tape to add weight? Looks to me like these PXGs are riddled with drilled and tapped holes - I assume to dink around with the weight?

Also for those on the topic of Ali - I too am a closet follower of the sweet science btw.

I've never ported a head, but Wishon heads come with pre-drilled weight bores in the hosel and/or in the back of the flange. Makes swing weighting a breeze. I try to avoid using the bores if I can use tip weights, but I like heavier wedges and carry shorter clubs so they come in handy in the short irons.

So essentially if you stay with us and don't venture into the general Forums you'll have two posts and 10,000 likes within the month.

Your quote button will transfer what you want to "quote" once you click the both the quote button THEN the little black box that asks if you're ready to reply to whatever it is you're quoting. The "quote" then becomes part of the next post as you click 'reply'. So you could be in the midst of a reply and even scroll back up and add quotes. Go ahead and experiment on us and you'll get the knack of it.

Post counts here in the 19th hole for some crazy reason don't tally up. No clue why. I think it was done to drive MDG nuts (he hates the way the likes button eventually runs dry and won't work for a day or so - so we/I tease him about it.)

"Hammer" is a fella who routinely shows up here from Guam...good fella. (LOL - Somebody get MDG a map of the world for heaven's sake!)

And Peanuts Daddy gets finger cramps a lot - and we tease each other here a bit - and those two things are related.

I have a tendency to argue in favour of those I dissagree with, this allows me to see their perspective. For some reason they could not see this, so I was constantly berated in a very aggressive manner when I supported my true view.

When you are in a forum where everyone is so up themselves, it makes for a disappointing experiance.

I have read through this forum for a while now and am of the opinion you are a great bunch of people here for a good laugh, I hope I can contribute as well as you all are

The software on my previous forum was almost identical to this one, just a few exceptions, post count being the most important.

I am now thinking about my next game of golf, thinking is a long way from action.

Did it to a few old Spalding wedges back when I was learning ended up melting lead wheel weights back in to get the weight up. LOL was looking at some new Cally wedges today at our pro shop. Not only are they ugly as sin but they have holes drilled in the back down low. I asked the assistant why in the hell they did that? He said to lighten them up. I asked him why in the hell anyone would want to lighten up the bottom end of a sand wedge? He is young but came up with a plausable answer. Stuey everyone does not like a wedge as heavy as you do. Ok point taken but If I liked the profile I could do the old melted lead trick or epoxy lead shot in those holes.

To answer your question yes they are. A few years back there were the Bobby Grace V Foil putters. Now the Mark 4 Tour heads were drilled and you could alter the weight with different size 1/4 inch dia allen screws. Years later Scotty Cameron and others adapted this to the current crop of putters and of course TM adapted it to metal drivers and fairways. One time back in the day Wilson had a set of Staff irons that had weight in the toe and it was funny to add weight you took the threaded plug out with a standard spike wrench and used lead powder or lead shot glued in of course to prevent rattles. I have seen dimes and even washers in those things. Really the basic things are not new or revolutionary just an improved version of the mousetrap so to speak. Parsons has found a way to do it a little differently of course us old schoolers can and will do the same thing with lead tape

Ya, tolmij (BTW ,what do you want us to call you? LOL) if post count matters

to you the 19th hole will be a disappointment. On the other hand, no one in this

thread gives a rip about post counts; no one cares how long or not long you've

been here and really it's just about friendship and sharing experiences; in golf

and in life.

So make yourself at home and settle in. You should get yourself some sort of avatar

since you likely have more personality than that blank head you have now, lol, and

you gotta tell us what name you want us to call you by.

And welcome! You're the first Aussie to join in with us. You're a ground breaker, mate!

we love food. Gotta tell us about the food down there. :D

Just call me Tol, you may find other names when you know me better.

Surprisingly there are two distinct attitudes to food in Australia, those of us that like good home cooked, or good quality restaurant food and those who will eat anything, literally anything as some of the food dished up in fast food places have to be seen to be believed.

My wife Mrs Tol, is a fantastic cook, keeps a very full pantry and can run up a banquet for 20 at short notice. The problem with this is keeping my weight off.

Still trying to work out how to quote just the latest post, it seems everything wants to come over together, like keeping up a group hug.

Post count is not really important, it was just a sore point with some on my last forum. I liked to push my post count up to aggrevate them as they were so opinionated and dismissive of anyone not as enthusiastic as themselves about their golf handicap.

Don't get me wrong, I like playing golf, I am now 74 play regularly and know there is not much I can do to improved very much. It's not something that bothers me as I enjoy life, every new day is a bonus. :). My passion apart from golf is oil painting, I like to think we are all better than average, my son, my wife and myself. When I have this all sorted I will post some for comment.

Looking for an avatar that do justice to my good looks

Couple of questions,

Why does my quote button not work?

Why is my post count not increasing?

OK, put'em up...I'm ready to go!

1) You could've hovered over the language. i.e. TOOL, etc.

Temporarily

Out

Of

Likes

2) YES, I hate it when the well runs dry. (I know, now, it's 75) It's exactly like being rudely interrupted, (in the hole/mashed potatoes) just as I'm about to drop the punch line, and I'm convinced I have something interesting to say. :angry22:

3) I read Australia, and saw New Zealand. It's still closer than Argentina. Further more, they're ALL closer to Guam than I am.

I'll STFU now, unless I insist on feeling the wrath of my Precious' anger if I wake her with all this shouting.

Have a good whatever....I don't even know where you are. It could be night or day, looking out your window.

4.30 pm. Queensland Australia, nearing the shortest day of the year. 40 kilometres north of Brisbane. Nearly time to feed the dogs (2) and cats (3).

Have a good whatever yourself, enjoy :)

Given you one of my likes, I have plenty left.

Way down under in (not New Orleans) Australia.

Living the dream.

A definite geezer of some repute, ( I think ).

Couple of questions,

Why does my quote button not work?

Why is my post count not increasing?

So essentially if you stay with us and don't venture into the general Forums you'll have two posts and 10,000 likes within the month.

Some of these gents are real blowhards ; )

ROTFLMAO!!! Look at our poster boy MC. For awhile he had less than 1000

posts and 17,000 likes. He's a friggin superman of "likes" LMAO 17 to1.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. :superman:

Chief, I've been playing Bunn and Lincoln Greens. It was going well for a while but Friday was ugly....UUUUGGLLLY!...and I don't do ugly well. I drove straight to Knights and got one of those jumbo buckets of balls. I didn't bring it up but Miss Yoga pants showed up while I was there. It takes some time to get through a jumbo bucket. Anyway, she never came over to where I was hitting. I must not have made much of an impression....or gave her bad advice....or she didn't want to interrupt the guy hitting balls with tears running down his face from playing so poorly that morning. I'm not as beautiful when I'm crying. :D

Forget Yoga pants and everything else around me. I've gone from course to range, and hit 2 to 3 hundred balls, so many times, it's sickening.

It's sorta difficult to keep it to myself, the following day, when I show up with surgical tape, when it's not Band-Aids, on too many fingers to ignore.

Thing is, while I was desperately looking for something to fix, I was ignoring basics.....TEMPO. 10/15 balls before tee time could have saved me all that Sheezeehite. And I'm surrounded by a bunch of clowns :jester: .........Guess what? (Who's the dumbarse now?)

Here's another ground breaker for you........I have, so far been the patriarch, at 71. I have the privilege to pass on the *Old Man's Jacket*
