Clubhouse Grille (*** NO LIV DISCUSSIONS ***) (*** NO POLITICS/RELIGION ***)

Prior to purchasing the Jetspeed hybrid that I won at auction for $19 (NOS Ladies) I had a few Adams 5 hybrids on my watchlist.  All of a sudden I'm getting email offers from the vendors offering me 10%-20% off their BIN pricing options.  Almost has me considering picking up one of those  as they are both shafted appropriately and then reselling the NOS Jetspeed, hopefully for a profit.  Cheaper than changing a shaft if that proved to be a necessity.  Maybe I should lay down until the feeling goes away...😏

Talk about trying to find a needle in a haystack!  No wonder I have no idea how a woman's mind works or why she's reacting the way she is or even what she wants.  I'm lost in the labyrinth and there's a Minotaur waiting for me when things go wrong which it seems they inevitably will... 😬

Good to hear that a few Grillers are still getting out on the links and posting some very nice scores to boot.  Who ever said that winter golf had detriments to quality of play?🤷‍♂️

lets be honest, the weather has never been detrimental to the quality of play, but the whether,  that is the brain clocking in, usually determines the score.🤨

I am planning on playing today. It will be a while though...a very hard frost.

A friend of mine (Megan Khang) is playing in the US Women's Open. For a while she was on top of the leaderboard, but a double on 18 took care of that. 😑 She is currently tied for 12th.

Her's is a compelling story: https://www.golfchannel.com/news/secret-war-forbidden-love-and-treacherous-journey-lpga-khangs

I got an email on Tuesday that a couple of courses I used to frequent are open for play from Wednesday to Saturday, walking only.  It's tempting I must say as the temps have been nudging up to 50°F yesterday and today.  Doesn't really fit in my plans as I curled yesterday and today.

Conditions should be pretty good.  I have even threatened to cut my grass one last time as it's quite thick, lush and green still.  Once the Christmas decorations come down I may actually do it!

Indeed.  As I was reading the article I immediately thought about Gran Torino and the struggles depicted that the Hmong family endured.

Which makes her story all the more compelling. When she was an amateur, Meg probably played 75% fewer big tournaments then her peers as they didn't have the money to go to many of them (AJGA, Invitationals, etc.). When they did go, Lee drove. I remember one year, they drove to Indiana for a tournament, from there to DC, and from there to SC, then back home (Massachusetts). They would also try to find the cheapest hotel, which many times was a good hour and a half from the course. If Meg had an early tee time, she had to get up at like 3:30 am.

She was the only amateur in modern times to play in 7 consecutive USGA Jr Girls tournaments. She qualified for her first US Women's Open at age 14, and she breezed through Q-School.

There were a lot of naysayers, but Lee just ignored them and went about his business. He wasn't one of those strict task masters either. Meg had plenty of time to hang out with friends and what not. When she was 8, Paula Creamer was at our practice facility and watched Meg hit balls...she said to Meg: "See you in 10 years kid", and it happened, lol.

Seen this many times, many think if you are not using recognised professionals, no matter what the sport or occupation, you cannot succeed. I can also see them calling her and her father upstarts. Its really good to see them making them eat their words. They sound like a friendly well adjusted family pursuing their dream and deserve all they have worked so hard for.

We love our bird life around the house, and have been feeding them for a while. Sometime ago we purchased a stick to the window bird feeder and whilst we have never seen them use it the food has been going down and replaced.

Last night one of the cats was interested in the bird feeder, when the light was switched on this is what was there.

We have a squirrel proof bird feeder, but that doesn't stop chipmunks from draping across the perches and getting their fill!

Just having breakfast and coffee before the wife and I head out to play.

Were visiting a course today she hasn't played since she started playing almost 4 years ago. Wil be interesting to see the difference in scores between back then and now.

Wow, good variety of courses played, Hatchford brook near the Birmingham exhibition centre used to be the course I usually played, good until the planes landed then it was a little noisy.

That's an impressive list of course that you have played @Jedaigeki!  You've covered quite a bit of territory in just 4 years.  How many games a year do you play?

thanks guys, play about 120-150 rounds a year. The majority are at our home course but we both make an effort to play other courses as much as possible both with each other and within our golfing circles.

Today was suppose to be a working in the garden day, unfortunately the weather has taken an early turn for rain. Storms all along the east coast, king-tides, tidal surges and high winds have contributed to massive beach erosion and floods.

We are lucky where we live as a range of hills diverts the worst of it and we are high enough that the floods don't reach us. Did some art, ate plenty and am now sitting up in bed with a glass of wine, white wine as red brings on my gout.

Thankfully I'm still pretty "young" so my body can manage it however most of the guys I play with are older than me and still play close to the same number of rounds.

It also helps to get out and play when everyone in the house plays golf also.

I have no doubt that if yearround golf was viable where I live, I would be doing it.  Truth be told, it probably is to a degree in that there are courses that open up throughout the winter for brief periods, but I've never been fond of cold weather golf as in single digits and the accompanying mud that comes on those days when the sun is out and the wind is at bay.
