Speaking of yesterday it was one big positive for me. I played both the Shoot Out and the 9 and dine with my wife. Tell you what it was brutal. I darn near wore my 4 wood and 23 hybrid out. Basically played my own game. I always had a good short game and the last few months I had honed it back pretty sharp. We shot -7 which was good for 2 nd place no side bets. I had went back to putting with an old Ironmaster blade putter with a conventional grip both the grip itself and my hand position. We finished 2 nd out of 16 teams. Had to really pace my back since it was CPO. 

 

The 9 and Dine is basically a Husband wife team scramble for 9 holes. I figured we would get killed since my wife does not play much. I stuck to the game plan for me. As cold, wet and windy as it had really gotten in the afternoon I figured maybe plus 4 would take it. I hit a low ball anyhow and the Stuey Stinger was working. I had conserved myself during the scramble that morning and had rested 4 hrs before working out and playing the afternoon. I knew some of the teams were older guys and ladies had played the event in the morning. Did make my goal and birdied the 2 par 5s. On the 4s we had trouble reaching in regulation I went to plan and left it for up and down. We failed one time to get up up and down thus the bogie. Ended up winning the darn thing and out of 20 teams and we were the only team under par. I remember when I posted our card our GM/ Owner said " really?" I told him we played our butts off.  The couple who played with us verified the score. I think the closest score to us was +2. Was stoked to the fact I actually thought my way around the course and I had the confidence in my short game to pull it off. Had a great dinner of fresh local boiled shrimp with corn on the cob potatoes and all. The play was not all me. They had the ladies tees way up since you had some older ladies in it and it was wet and cold. On those holes I did not get on the driver too much because my wife could hit it off the ladies tee about 120 or so and we could get into position. Part of my plodding and thinking game plan

 

I have started my intense physical therapy and am getting stronger and stronger. Yep I am doing 3 sessions a week 3 hrs per session. So I am doing good and getting there

I suppose I am a bit of a traditionalist, i.e., older, lol. I have seen tee shirts and jeans on rare occasions, but nothing like what you have witnessed, lol. I prefer shorts/trousers with polo shirts. In the winter, if any courses are open, I will wear flannel lined jeans on the course, but it's in the 20s or 30s.

Was only half kidding when posting that picture grab.  Thought the "look" was kinda spiffy.  Done right, color coordinated and all that.  Can certainly appreciate someone, like the gentleman you mentioned, having the self confidence to wear a certain style.  The old bromide of "Clothes don't make the man, the man makes the clothes" still has validity.  

 

Great to read that you're back to swatting the ball around.  And the intensive PT is realizing positive results.

Sounds like you are 'following' this thread. Click the 'follow' on above right just above the black box with REPLY TO THIS TOPIC. Unclick email which is listed first. Otherwise don't know.

@tolmijMore than annoying.  In your profile (upper right) > account settings > notification settings (other settings) > Mentions and My Content > uncheck email.  Globally stops all the email bombardments from being received.  While still maintaining "follow" settings on threads.

The notification sounds are on by default, just like websites made by children and grandmothers 20 years ago that had music play automatically.

 

Go to the top right and click on your avatar

Go to Account Settings

Go to Notification Settings on the right

Uncheck the box at the bottom under Notification List that says "Play a sound..."

Da Beast doesn't need to hit fairways; he can play from 5 inch rough no problem. No golf course is safe when he's around.?

He has shown there is a different way to play this game professionally. I wonder how many of his fellow professionals will follow in his footsteps?  I also wonder when OEM's will come out with 48-inch drivers for the distance obsessed amateur, lol.

I imagine anyone who wants a 48" driver has one already. It's not a big deal swapping out driver shafts these days. A 48" driver

would likely have a heavier swing weight but that can be fixed with back weighting in the grip. If I was taller and/or had short arms

I would try it out. At 5'10" with longish arms I think my swing plane would be too flat with a 48" driver and I would have control

issues. My current driver is 45.5" and is in my comfort range. Give it a try Sean. At 6'5" it would be like a twig in your hands and

you could increase you swing radius by a significant amount and pick up EZ distance gains.

I love it because those folks in the supposed know said you could not power through Wingfoot in a US Open like that.  He proved them dead wrong. But what they do not understand is he has imagination and deft touch around the greens. Glad to see he proved the know it all gurus wrong

They ran an evaluation and put my chart of exercises together. I do my checklist at my own sorta supervised pace. I rest how ever long and often as I desire.

Could not find the account and notification settings, checked in the section for site problems and I am not alone, many members cannot access these functions. However they have suddenly stopped, so it was possibly a function that was playing up. ?‍♂️

Well I guess I am progressing fine. Saturday night I was tired and after dinner I had tightened up some. Came home took a hot shower and had my wife rub Blue Emu on my back. Got up a little stiff yesterday morning but worked it out with my bands and isometric exercises. Did my church thing and came home and ate breakfast. Usually at this stage on Sunday I take a nap. Yesterday went out and cleaned the shop which was a huge operation. Got a friend coming down Wednesday and I have some club work scheduled for him and his daughter who plays the Symetra Tour. I have 3 3 hour sessions of therapy this week starting at 0700 this morning. Next week I also have some club work a mutual friend of ours who used to play the LPGA is trying to make a go at it again at age 37. In fact she called me last night and I encouraged her. I basically told her if I at 63 years of age could come back from where I was 4 months ago she could do it at age 37 after having 2 kids. Got 9 holes scheduled with her and her husband to see what we need to do equipment wise. It has been 10 years since I have played golf with her. Actually been 10 years since I have physically seen her. 

But I am pretty well stoked since Saturday.

The two pictures part of my morning jobs this time of the year. 5 years ago we planted a Mulberry tree And this year we are for the first time reaping the full rewards. The past years we have had a reasonable crop but this year this is now our daily pick, three pounds in the dish. The other picture is a mulberry pickers hand, nice and stained.

 

they are a nice sweet berry good with ice cream, on breakfast or sit down and eat them as is, they freeze well and we will be using them for months.

I suppose you could say that the red is more fashionable than the black that comes from working with red grapes.  Lemon juice was the only natural thing that worked.

The change of season has brought about with it a barrage of frost delays.  We were pushed back 45 minutes yesterday despite opening at 8 am rather than 7:30 as has been the case all summer.  That was the forth frost delay in a week! 

 

It makes quite a bit of difference down here beside the lake as our morning temperature yesterday was 7°C (or about 45°) whereas at the club on the escarpment it would have been 1° or 2°.  Reminds me of the desert climate out in the BC interior where my son and DIL live with cloudless skies and a swing of 20°C + from lows to highs throughout the day.  I was already quite warm after 3 holes playing in long pants and wearing a fleece jumper over my shirt.

 

I got several comments from the peanut gallery regarding my choice of headgear wearing a pancake hat which had more to do with matching the colour of my sweater than paying homage to Da Beast.  Must admit that I do prefer not looking like a walking billboard.  MInd you, at our age, no one looks like a walking billboard.  We leave that to the younger and flatter stomached crowd.

 

Hit the ball pretty well yesterday save for a couple of par 3's that resulted in a calamity of errors (triples).  Other than that I was par or bogie the rest of the way.  I'd say that I am finally onto the light weight graphite irons and the new driver is more reliable than spectacular.  Hit a particularly nice 3W from the rough on 8 landing just short of the green from ~175.  It was a nice recovery from my tee shot that got hung up in the netting protecting the 4th tee (to the right of the fairway).

 

If you haven't tried it yet, I recommend that you try softer shafts in your clubs.  You hear lots of negative commentary about such things on this website as a matter of course, but I can't honestly say that I notice much of a difference beyond two things:  The ball really goes when you square one up and man is my bag lighter to carry!  My irons go dead straight.  I have no issues with pushes or pulls or hooks or slices or ballooning shots.  If anything the flight is a bit more penetrating with the graphite than the regular steels that they replaced.  They've got me convinced that strong lofts work!

It's fall here in the northern hemisphere and a great time to play golf. Can't speak for anyone else but I'm enjoying

our cooler than normal temps in the 70s and low 80s and playing more golf. College Football is starting up again

and the holiday season will be upon us before we know it. All is well here and I hope Grillesters are all doing well.

Meanwhile in Australia we are opening up, Queensland has again had no positives until this week when we had one a traveller already in quarantine. The other states are almost to zero and interstate travel is now slowly opening. The savage initial rules have worked well.

 

we were looking at the America and UK numbers yesterday and They are horrific, moving to Australia was a clever decision we have never regretted.
 

Out to pick Mulberries, then a day of painting, six on the go so hard work required.
