Ping Vault Putters

Saw them all at Edwin Watts yesterday. Loved the Oslo and the Voss. Liked the Bergen, haven't ever really liked Anser 2s. But they really failed on the grip; it's disgusting, way too big for a stock putter grip, I personally can't stand feeling like I'm putting with a RedBull can in my hands. They would have way better feel with a rubber grip of some sort. Very nice putters though, my love for Oslo was confirmed.

If I was a mallet guy, the Oslo would be my choice. Love everything about it, especially the lack of massive shaft offset. But, as expected, the Voss is the standout. I do wish the slate finish was darker, but they do call it slate, not black, for a reason. It has me contemplating the platinum finish or inquiring if Wrx can do it in black. I agree with others: not a fan of the stock grip. I prefer, and have, this version of the PP62: http://www.golfworks...p/p/PG0034 Of all the OS grips out there, it's my favorite. But my Voss will have the PP58 midsize.

Obviously thoughts about the grip are subjective. I bought my Oslo yesterday and I love the grip, but I typically use a bigger SS grip.

I like the grip as well.

I find it interesting that guys say they love the oslo because it has no offset, then say they love the VOSS...

Personally I disagree.....the face is lined up with the shaft or it isn't. The voss face is about a full shaft set back while the oslo is damn near lined up. To each their own. Oslo is a nice putter, I just like a full shaft offset.

Oslo has a half shaft offset. Voss is full.

Double bend shafts with half offset are the most common for mallet style putters.

For me, it has nothing to do with it being lined up. I don't like bendy steel shafts over a putter head. Most mallets have that appearance, which is one of the reasons I'm not a mallet guy. I like the Oslo because it does not have that appearance. What I do like is a nice, straight plumber's neck into the putter head, which is why I like the Voss (and my Kevin Burns 9306).

I didn't love the balance through the stroke of the oslo. The bergen seemed to flow more freely for me. The voss is a beauty. My local stores didn't have any slate finishes though or else I likely would have picked one up. I was surprised by how relatively soft the face feel is off these putters.

Local golfsmith had a few ansers & 1 Bergen, both golf galaxy stores had nothing. The Bergen felt really good, even in RH & 2" longer than what I need. Was really hoping to see an Oslo in person before ordering it. As long as it feels similar to the Bergen & looks as good as the pictures I'll be in business in a few weeks. This will be my first milled putter & 1st real mallet (currently have an odyssey #9 I've had for almost 10 years)

Picked up a VOSS and played one round with it yesterday. Nice putter. Our greens are insanely slow right now, so a bit difficult to get a real feel for the putter, but it treated me fairly well throughout the day. Fairly soft feel.

I was very close to purchasing a Voss until the other day, when I picked up a B60 that was near some of the Vault putters in the LGS. I realized then that I want a B60 Vault. Hopefully they release one. Until then, my Voss purchase is on hold.

Tried them out on Friday (Voss and Bergen) and really liked the feel of both - nice, rich sound and feel. Probably the best sounding putter from a major manufacturer out there right now. If my local Golfsmith carried lefty Bettinardis, they would be in trouble.

I walked into our pro shop this afternoon and we had one vault putter. Just so happened to be the exact one I was thinking about getting - 34" Oslo. Needless to say I have a new flatstick in the bag.

I putted with it for 30 minutes or so and I'm really impressed. Feel is spot on - responsive, firm, but not clicky. Not exceptionally soft like deeper milled putters. I really like the new grip even though it's a bit larger than the super stroke I've been using.

Overall it's very stable (key for me coming from an Odyssey 7H), easy to line up and feels great. Very good first impression.

I had no idea what was coming price-wise! How did this slip though? Massive sticker shock. I better make everything from inside of 15 feet backhanded and with my eyes closed if I ever pay that much for a putter.
