Who was the biggest one hit wonder in the golf equipment industry?

TLDR:

Has anyone mentioned the Medicus dual pivoting 5 iron?  Lol.  Still have one in lefty I bought for my wife many years ago.

We were new golfers in 2005 and the commercials made sense.  All I really got out of it was that I had to slow the back swing and start the down swing easy in order for it not to "break".

At least I didn't take advantage of special pricing to include the driver.

TM Inergel golf balls. Not sure anyone else has tried making golf balls with a creme filling since...

6 year old reply - I've definitely cut open some old Titleist balls with liquid cores.  What made the Innergel cores different?

Had a nice 3w I used for a while but the main thing I recall is that their demise must have coincided with beginnings of online auctions and such and I bought a whole bag worth of new clubs for next to nothing. I thought I was getting the greatest deals in history.  The 3w was the only thing I used for any length of time though.  The irons had some strange graphite shafts I think?, and were stiff as hell. The driver had a loose weight rattling around inside right out the wrap.

Club I was a member of at the time used give the Taylormade Inergel balls out as a prize for 2's in competitions.

Ended up with a good few of them and loved them- even preferred then over Pro V 1's at the time.

Still have the left in their sleeve.

I played with their driver and really liked it back in the day. I felt it was as good as anything out at the time.

Zevo was Toulon’s invention that got bought out by Callaway rather than dealing with legal concerns when the Epic with Jailbreak came out. Zevo when away, but we got some great drivers and putters out of Callaway ever since.

I thought the Medicus was a pretty good tool for tempo and staying on plane.

I could hit the 5 iron about 175 back in the day. I think late 80's?

I thought those things felt like rocks.  They scuffed easily, too, if I remember right. I only tried a sleeve and hated them.

I was playing Maxfli Revolution 90's ( What I believe to be the first "multilayer" ball ) when TM brought these out, I think.

had a goldwin driver I got cheap online back in 99 I think. Was awesome until the weight popped out. The nice part was the brass sole could be removed and the weight epoxied back in. Did that repeatedly the rest of the summer until I could afford a 975D. 🤣

I remember attending the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic at Sedgefield the year those were released, reps were giving out free sample packs of this ball at areas near public entrances and juniors were going from entrance to entrance trying to hoard more. This was on Thursday, by Sunday, the sample boxes were littered all about walking areas and a few toddlers were bouncing them off paved areas without any concern by their parents 😂

Tho a bit bigger than a one hit wonder, I'm going to say Yes! putters.  Made some great ones (Callie-F and Abbie Forged) and some gawd awful putters...  Outside of Goosen winning some big stuff with them, they didn't catch on like other guys who just make clone putters and charge 3x more...

Definitely not the biggest but i'll nominate -

Power Pod driver, Alien golf clubs,  TearDrop putters, Tour Balance, Bullet, Daiwa, Psycho golf, Helix Technique irons, Zevo, Wright golf irons, Copper King golf putters.

Disclaimer \ I have never owned any of these but they were around back 20 -25 years ago. I played PowerBilt back then.
