Grand Traverse Resort ?

My wife and I will be going up here next month, and wanted to know everyone's opinions on the hotel, and the 3 golf courses on the property. Also, other things besides golf that we can do up here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The bear is pretty good. Very tough track. The wolverine is ok. Typical resort type course, not a must play in my opinion. The other course is nothing special.

I have never stayed at the resort but the short drive to traverse city is great for food and beer. Oh and shopping for the wife.

I've stayed there quite a few times, either for work or with my wife for a get-away weekend. I haven't played it yet, but lochenheath across the street is supposed to be great. A-ga-ming Sundance is another good course about 10-15 minutes north.

There is a nice spa at the resort and a casino that they will run shuttles to and from, and torch lake is nearby, but downtown traverse city and all the wineries on the two Peninsulas is where it's at.

Thanks for all of the information. Isn't lochenhearh private though? The course does look great from their website though. We plan on visiting downtown, the numerous wineries, and some of the lighthouses, hopefully it will be a nice little getaway.

Lochenheath is private on their website, but gets a ton of Public play. They staff at GTR can arrange a round for sure.

I liked all the courses at GTR, and Lochenheath is accessible. Traverse City is awesome in the summer!

I spent the night in Traverse City in early May. What a great little city! I considered playing Lochenheath May 6th but decided against it because I wanted to get back south. I did drive in and stopped in the parking lot. The entrance is pretty grand and you can tell it bill be private before too long. Their pro shop/club house looked like something out of midevil times.

In retrospect I wish i played it instead of Eagle Eye. The green fees were reasonable the views were great! I did hear it was quite tough though!

I also checked out Grand Traverse Resort. Reminded me a dated Pocono's resort back in PA...
