David Duval, maybe my favorite commentator now.

Personally, I think Duval is awesome, both he and Nobilo, as other said, are awesome. I love DD's experience and explanation. I also like how Nobilo seems to put a lot of thought into his comments and you can tell he really enjoys his job. I can't stand Brandel or Oberholser....Oberholser just rubs me the wrong way....not saying he isn't a good guy but there is just something about his comments that I don't like and Brandel is waaay to full of himself.

 

I like Feherty as well although i know some here do not. I like that he is knowledgeable and has a lot of respect for the players and can sympathize with their struggles while still shining some humor through it all where as McCord is just plain silly to be silly. Miller to me has moments where he is good, then his ego gets in the way and starts comparing himself to Jack and Arnie and that's when I vomit a little in my mouth.

Being forced to watch FOX coverage really makes you appreciate how good Duval, Nabilo, Faldo and Miller are.

 

I think it is a refreshing change. Faldo sucks. Miller is annoying. Hope I never ever again hear.."bla bla blah HUH ROG" "HUH DOTTY" "HUH MURPH"

Really, these players turned commentators are all pretty good. Duval is my favorite right now, but with popularity, who knows. I also really like Faldo and Brandal even thought they seems not so popular with this forum. My only gripe with Nabilo is that he likes to get in pissing matches with Brandal and I think that reflects more on him than on Brandal. And on Brandal's side, he did play and win on the PGA tour, that is above and beyond credentials.

The other thing I like about Duval is he doesn't seem polished or glib. His stammering and searching for words hits me as 'thoughtful and reflective' which is a breath of fresh air.

Duval was very good and refreshing as a commentator this weekend. I like the interaction between him and Nobilo and Chamlee, although you can tell that that latter two don't like each other. Fox's coverage was much improved but I don't think Azinger is the answer (although he's better than Norman was last year). It was nice to switch over to GC to hear the commentators rather than listening to Buck and Co. close out their segments/ analysis. Duval could easily take over for Miller when he retires in my opinion - although I'd much rather see him play too.

My favorites are Duval and Noblio without a doubt with the edge going to Duval. Chamblee I can take or leave but he made some points with me when he took the USGA to task after the Open. Fox needs to start out by getting rid of Joe Buck and rebuilding from there.

Agreed. I really like him. I must admit, he has improved light years from when he first started. Far more confident now than when he first hit the air.

Huh Duval was almost broke a few years ago he was making $5-10 mil a year from Nike. Did you see his house in the Feherty show??? Don't think he's commentating for the money.

He's quite good in this role. I wonder if he'll try the Champions Tour when he turns 50 or if he's found his calling in the booth.

I had my doubts but he's really good. He's straight forward and honest and I believe he's already the best. His comments about the Open and the USGA was right on the mark.
