I'm starting my spring tour of some of the northern Oakland County public tracks this week. Yesterday I played 18 at twin lakes (woods/links). The estates is currently being aerated. The woods was a bit rough; slow greens, tree branches in the fairways, etc. The greens have not been aerated there yet. The links was in much better shape and it looks like they aerated a few weeks ago.

Friday I'll be playing Devil's Ridge and Monday will be Copper Hills. I'll update with course conditions after my rounds.

Played Coyote Preserve on Sunday and the greens were in amazingly good shape for this early in the year. It really dried out well from all the rain earlier in the week, too.

Devil's ridge has some good holes but some really stupid ones too.....I used to really like Copper Hills when I lived there...has a couple goofy holes but it's normally in good shape and fun to play

I always liked Boulder Pointe. Generous fairways and good layout.

Never played Metamora but I have heard good things about it.....I played Boulder Pointe quite a bit....Loved the course....good shape and fun layout for all 3 of the nine's....I would recommend BP over Devil's Ridge for sure.

i played Greystone this weekend... first time ever there. i liked the course, some interesting holes and strategic pin locations... its def a place that seems you need a couple of rounds there to know the shots, a couple of approaches i was kinda guessing... cool course, was in pretty good shape. greens were punched prob earlier that week and should be in fine shape by this weekend

had a pretty solid +4 round going until i got to the quarry holes and added an additional +5 in 3 holes lol

Orchards is in great shape!! New GPS on the carts too!!

What's the current rate? I like the course but usually I feel like it's overpriced.

$58 right now for peak weekend... highway robbery.

love that course so much, its a great test. but its remained a weekday twilight location for me... even then its like $50 for 18

saturdays forecast needs to change! lined up an AM round at Detroit Golf Club that i was really looking forward to haha

Anyone here a member of any clubs in the area? WE joined Oak Pointe in brighton last fall, and was wondering if anyone on GOLFWRX played out there

Did for a season, joined somewhere closer to home in A2. Two solid courses, if 23 wasn't such a mess I'd probably still be playing there. Liked the difficulty difference, id shoot 68-74 on the one course and never shot lower than 73 on the harder. Who I had out would be the deciding factor on which course to play.

I have a friend at Oak Pointe, I've played both courses and I like them both a lot. I joined TPC this year and I was pleased to see we get privileges at Oak Pointe as well. I'll definitely be planning some rounds out there this year.

I just played the Champs at Oak Pointe today. Great courses out there. Always in great shape. Greens were already smooth and fast.

$50 on the weekend and a bit cheaper during the week i think.

If you buy the Group Golfers for the Orchards when they come out it makes it a little better. $40 for 18 as long as you don't mind playing after 11am. I think $50 over the weekend is a fair price for that course based on the quality of it compared to others in the area. My biggest complaint for highway robbery in the area is Cherry Creek. Just nothing impresses me about that places for the prices they typically charge for a normal round. Twilight usually is a good deal though.

I used to have a membership at The Orchards.....my favorite course in SE Michigan....course has some tough holes but really rewards good shots while poor ones are penalized.....I can easily go out there and shoot 68 or 78 there. It may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for there vs. Cherry Creek which is target golf at it's finest and the conditions aren't as good as they should be for their rates. I also kind of like Glacier Club....couple of quirky holes but you can normally find a pretty good rate and for $40 it's worth it.

Agreed, especially on the first par 5 on the backside of Cherry Creek. Where you are essentially forced to lay up on a par 5 with an iron off tee due to the waste area that's 70 yards long. But then you are so close to the waste area that you can go for the green with a fairway wood. Unless you are the absolute longest of the longest hitters, they are forcing you to play it as a 3 shot par 5 which I can't stand.

I haven't really thought about the quality of the Orchards vs the other courses close by. Living in Lake Orion, they are all a huge pain in the @ss to play. I can play Westwynd, which is less than 5 miles from my house for $40 or less all year round twilight. If I'm going to play during peak days/times I'll just hit Sharf. It's the same price regardless of when you play, so the $80 ($70 last year) isn't that tough to stomach.

I really miss Sharf....would without a doubt be my favorite course in SE and most of Michigan if it wasn't private....I did an internship there like 9 years ago and played it constantly....just an awesome course....liked Katke a lot too minus 2 holes. I forgot about Westwynd....like that course except that it was always wet when I played it and they don't have a driving range which I find to be extremely annoying.

I love Katke and Sharf. I played both regularly when I was at OU. I think OU's setup (facilities, both courses, etc.) is the best in SEMI and I would put it up against some of the rest of states offerings.

I played Devil's Ridge on Friday and Pine Knob today. Both are in very good shape. Devil's was CPO on the first six holes due to soft conditions. The greens were pretty smooth (they haven't aerated yet) and the speed was decent. Pine Knob was in better shape than Devil's (I only played the Eagle nine). The greens were sneaky fast. I had quite a 5 foot comebackers for par today, but I made them all and shot even :)

I got my first round in on sharf yesterday. It was in surprisingly good condition considering all the rain. I shot 39/40 thanks mostly to my putter. The rest of my game deserved a 90.

I'm playing this morning in the OU spring scramble here in an hour and just learned our 4th dropped out due to illness :(
