Pulled my old set out of the garage - now my son's set - for a round on Sunday. It was a great day early in the season and it was like strolling down memory lane with my old gamers. I played these up to about 3 years ago. Distance control was great with lots of GIRs. They just want to go straight. These are a great set of irons.

Always liked the ISI even though I'm a blade guy 99.9% of the time. For some reason I really loved the nickels with the ti shafts they were very solid. We had a ping fitting cart and I always grabbed that ti shafted nickel ISI and hit it in the hitting bay (that's a ton of balls in the middle of winter in Utah by the way ?).

I got a 6 through PW "set" yesterday at Goodwill for $2.99 a club. I already had a ISI 4 iron sitting at home (might have a 5 sitting around somewhere as well - I'm going to check).

I have a playing partner who is a 6 handicap. He mentioned he had a set of BeCu IsI irons in his closet that he loved, but the steel shafts became too heavy for his game/ability. I offered to install some graphites for him, we did the job and his modern irons are now in the corner of the garage.

Loved the ISI look and design. I had every version (stainless, BeNi, and BeCu) except the oversize K and all were awesome. I'd buy another set of the ISI-S irons in a heartbeat if they had conforming grooves...

These are their 24th year of service, or so.  They have been supplanted by i500's, but they come out to play frequetly still.  Have 3-LW.  Will never be sold -- wonderful irons.

Every couple of years I give the ISI set a good buffing and paint fill for the spots that need it.  just got done with doing that.  Like a shiny new penny.  The brown will come back in a couple months.  There is a 8.5 driver in there too.  Great club.  An old Newport as well.  It rusted and I am not sure what to do about that.

Those are gorgeous!  What's up with the Anser knockoff though?  😆

I was too lazy to go get the anser 2 from downstairs, which i prefer over that titleist putter.  Also have a ping 1-a and prefer it over same.  But all were relegated to the heap.  A fitting revealed that blades and I don't get along.  Always leaving it left.  A midmallet like the arna won the day and it is dialed in.

My experience it seems is a little different than some recent posters. After gaming Eye-2’s for many years I tried the ISI’s but never could get nearly as well on with them. Eventually went  to some 690 MB’s which were perfect when I was on. After starting a family of 4 kids, with less golf, the 690’s demanded a little too much of my game, and went back to my first love, the Eye 2’s.

This thread has been brought back from the dead several times, I guess I'll do it as well...I had a BeNi L wedge years ago and sold it.  Wish I hadn't.

I'm trolling ebay for some cheap lefty's, full set.  Definitely getting harder to find for a decent price.  Until then, I'll play my Eye 2+no+, i5's, i10's, Anser's, Rapture V2J's, S59's, or S56's.

I'm watching the 1997 US open and I think Jeff Maggert one of the leaders is playing this iron.  But I'm no ping ID expert.   they are pings though.

I watched that in lockdown 😂 yep they looked like the isi iron...... I'm going from isi set to new mizuno..... If my dad hadn't bought the mizzys I'd be just gaming the isi all the time
