Should be able to PM a mod and ask privately I would think.

But I agree that whenever one is issued an explanation should accompany. Just go into every post knowing that the mods here have their hands full and cannot/will not tolerate a lot of nonsense. The whole reason this board maintains its value (regarding info shared) is because of their work keeping it cleaned up.

I've been a Mod on another (not golf) forum several years ago. It's pretty much a given that members (should) read the rules. Mods have a lot to monitor, and are kind of like the refs at your kid's soccer game. They will be fair about warnings, but nobody is special. It's for the good of all. If you really read the rules, no problem... if you follow them

Got a warning for posting that I'd be open to trades in the Want To Buy forum. Fair enough as the guidelines said not to.

Reposted a straight WTB post with absolutely no mention whatsoever of trades or anything other than exactly what I was hoping to buy.

That landed me a second warning for posting trades, and a threat to ban me. Now I'm petrified to even click on the WTB forum, let alone ever post there again.

When a member receives a warning, it shows in 2 ways.

1) A popup appears in which a member must acknowledge the warning before they post again. This contains the reason why the warning was issued.

2) A copy of the warning is sent to the user via email.

Go to "My Settings" in your account and ensure you have emails enabled and a valid email address. Check spam in your email inbox if you don't see it in the inbox.

Most times people claim they don't is because they don't have a valid email, or unchecked received emails.

The rules are clearly posted in multiple places and mods work my other members reporting your actions. Its not a proactive process 99% of the time.

I got a warning once. I had no idea what it was about and never got a straight answer when I inquired. Whatever.

This is what was sent to you as well as a pop.

Hello,

This message is being sent because you have violated one or more of GolfWRX's BST rules. Please take the time to read the rules which are located on the top of the forum.

  • Must have a sale price, including items up For Trade.

This is a warning, and while we do not want this message to make you fear the site or its Marshals / Admins, we are trying to keep the peace. This is not a perfect science, and while rules are subjective we would appreciate your efforts to stay on the safe side when posting. When in doubt... DON'T!... We are very busy, and hope you can sort through your posts to determine the problem area, and make corrective actions to prevent future problems.

We pride ourselves here at Golfwrx to be an online Country Club, and to have that feeling we must act appropriately and avoid confrontations.

Thanks for your understanding.

I got one for saying Joe Buck needs to die in a fire. Something about wishing death upon someone in the T and C's. Whatevs.

That actually borders on infringement of Joe Buck's rights. That's why they warned you. The "whatevs" would have a mod concerned also.

Yes, death threats are not allowed.

Reminds me of a few years ago - me and others put on blast for discussing TW and how he was described in a book as "frugal", but with a word that rhymes with "brigardly" (which itself isn't really a real word, I guess. Are fake words a rules violation?)

Yes, racists comments are not allowed.

Yes, racists comments are not allowed.

And they should be, but the synonym for "frugal" that was used is not racist.

Would discussing efforts to promote the game of golf in the African country of N|ger also be against the rules?

Perception is reality and management rulings are final. Derogatory remarks will not be tolerated. Choose other synonyms.

well I am gobsmacked and quite hurt today.

Today I got a warning, absolutely no understanding why, no explanation until I tried to post here then a pop up appears riddled with html 'code' and extremely difficult to read, somewhere in it it said about a 'comment' but not what the 'comment' was?

Surely even in any 'due process' the accused has the right to know why and by whom? otherwise how are we supposed to not incur the same 'comment' again?

Sorry warning wasn't readable but here's what was highlighted in red:
