I like that pick. The only thing keeping me from him is I feel like there's going to be a little come down period after winning two straight. A week off plus going across the pond has me doubting a little bit. Wouldn't mind being wrong though

I'm rooting for Adam again this year!

 

He has lead or been tied for the lead on the back 9 in 3 of the last 4 Open's and finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th in the last four. I think it would be fair to say that the guy gets links golf. A positive for Scott at Troon might well be the putting surfaces. Rightly or wrongly, the general consensus seems to be that Adam is not the best reader of greens. The greens at Royal Troon are relatively flat. That might help him out some. I am heading down to to the Monday practice round and I am really, really hoping that he will be out and about practicing that day.

 

As for the rest of the guys - I liked the way McIlory was talking on Sunday after the French Open. He normally gives pretty honest assessments of his game and it seemed like he was starting to get a little confidence in what he is doing. I know he struggled a little on the final day but the Le Golf National is a tough track and you can't be far off your game to finish under par around there. My concern with Rory and my concern for Day though is the back 9. The ball flight that the two of them have is so high. That ball flight into the prevailing wind on the back 9 at Troon which is brutal at the best of times might make things difficult for them if the wind gets up. If the wind gets up I fancy Spieth to be the best of the big 3. Other than that, Fowler has flattered to deceive so far this season, Bubba and links golf seems like a match made in hell. DJ again, in the wind isn't the most convincing. I like Garcia. He has all of the shots, absolutely all of them. The way he controls his ball around a links course is something else and like Scott the relatively flat greens at Troon might be to his liking.

I think Day's been dreaming off his last putt at the open that would've put him in the playoff. I also wouldn't be surprised if Lowry comes out swinging after his melt down ala Rory style.

Would love Rory to return to top form and win this but just don't see it happening quite yet. I think he's ready by the PGA...

 

I think this is Adam Scott or Sergio. Would be great to see them both the final group on Sunday with a few strokes lead - slight preference for Sergio to win.

I really respect him as a golfer , as clutch as anybody and still does well despite the fact tour courses are set up for your power hitters

Oh Zach... combine his facial expressions/overall attitude with the white framed sunglasses and it's almost impossible to like the guy.

I think Jordan getting redemption after missing the playoff by a shot last year and heading to the PGA with a shot at the Grand Slam by 22 would be a pretty great story too.
