V-steel for me too. Vista Pro 90 shaft.

Currently gaming a minty V-Steel. I love it, but I ran a little experiment one day while killing time and hit 5 woods from a barrel and tracked them on a Foresight GC2. I consistently hit the callaway epic about 20 to 30 yards longer than the v-steel, and longer than other clubs also.

 

I don't know if its the shaft or the head or what, but that seemed pretty remarkable.

I hope this is the best ever. I just built an 18 with the YS-6+ (to match my 15).

 

I havent ever really played a 5-wood, but the v-steel 5 seemed like it was worth a try, competing for the 3rd spot in the bag against my 909h 17*. It seemed promising on its first time out.

Mine was a Wilson Sam Snead. When i was a junior that was the club i used as driver. I was gutted tge day it broke at the hosel.

Loved my V-Steel 5 wood and bagged it for about 5 years. Bought it from a friend who moved on to something else. I had great success with it, and tons of confidence. But it is in the process of being knocked out by a Ping G400. I'm using a friend's (stock shaft) who is done for the season with an injury.

 

I don't automatically assume that new is necessarily better. But in this case, the G400 is a lot better for me and once I get fitted it may be even better yet. By comparison, the V-Steel isn't close. G400 sounds better, is longer, tighter dispersion, and instills tons of confidence. I've tried many 5 woods and nothing was markedly better than the V-Steel. Until the G400. Now for a fitting. I've got a buyer for the V-Steel so that will help with about 10% of the cost of the G400 ;-). I now look at the V-Steel.as an old car that served me well, only to be replaced by a shiny new one that performs soooo much better.

 

Goodbye V-Steel. Your time has come.

Gotta agree with you, I loved my 200 series and V steel. But if I get 10y more carry + same accuracy + same workability with something newer why wouldn't I take that. I'm all for nostalgia and totally understand comfort with fairway woods, but if you make good contact it's not hard to find performance gains in new models.

 

Just gotta find one you like the look/shape/feel of, thats the tough part!

Tour Edge Exotics CB2 5wood. Love this club, for some stupid reason I try and replace it every once in a while. But always go back to it.
