Zika.. A great scapegoat?

Remember when Scott Stallings ratted himself out because he was taking a banned substance and still passed all of the PGA tests? Shows how rigorous the tests are. Who knows what really goes on behind the scenes and who actually tests "positive" for PED's but I do know the last thing the PGA tour wants is a bad image from players getting busted.

Drug testing should be totally eliminated. It's a cat and mouse game that benefits nobody.

the only thing that is a joke is the organizations that turn the other way. PGA, USGA etc.

why do you think Rory said what he did? Its because he knows guys are using.

the NFL has a lock down tight system. they basically have eliminated the cheaters from the game. and they have the best and most exciting product. baseball is slowly coming around.

so no. Drug testing is not a joke. It ensures a level playing field.

And just like baseball, when the drugs are eliminated, magically the 350 yard drives will suddenly disappear.....

So. I can't help but point out your flawed logic. Rory points out testing should be done to out people he knows are using so you say , but then you say the 350 yd drives will end when testing starts. Does this mean Rory is outing himself ? He is one of the bombers you speak of. Surely he isn't advocating testing if he's using. By the by 320 plus yard drives have zero to do with peds. And everything to do with the golf ball and huge drivers .... Pull the equipment way back and the drives will come back too.

There are lots of reasons to WD from Olympics. Lets face it. Jordan, Rory, Dustin and Jason don't need the Olympics. They have their goals and fame and the Olympics are just not part of it.

the drug testing issue in golf is real and needs to be adressed.

again the NFL has the most comprehensive testing program and the best product.

my point is like baseball, when comprehensive drug testing is used, some of the power game will evaporate.

my logic is clean and has already been proven in another sport.

your logic has no examples to draw from.

Milos Raonic (world #7 tenniser) has announced today that he's withdrawn from the olympics due to concerns about Zika. Olympic tennis gold is huge, so it's definitely not a convenient excuse for getting out of going.

Don't post facts in here, it will get the way of the bunch yammering about PEDS, male golfers being spoiled, and whatever else.....

The "Big 4" of men's tennis is enthusiastic about the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, unlike their counterparts in golf.

“Olympic Games are the most renowned and most prominent sports event in the history of sport. No question about it. There is no bigger sports event than Olympic Games,” Djokovic said. “For me, as a professional athlete, it’s a huge honor to be part of it.”

here is the real question

If the Olympics was held at a spot such as.... new york or toronto do you think these people would have bailed?

Do you mean if those cities had Zika? Or just in general?

Zika is a legitimate reason to skip the Olympics--one among many. But it's the only reason that would not embarrass/offend Brazil so it's the one that's going to be used.

There's no upside to saying you aren't going because Rio is crime and pollution infested cesspool, or because the Brazil government and IOC are corrupt.

I stopped at the NFL comment but then I came back and really laughed at the 350 yard drive comment. You sir should be on the comedy club circuit.

How much prize money is there for this event?

Most Olympians get screwed. No money from the IOC for winning. Each country has their own method of compensating athletes. Great Britain doesn't reward cash prizes. In the United States the payout is: $25,000 for gold $15,000 silver $10,000 bronze. This is also taxed by the us government to make it even worse. Other countries like Azerbaijan give way more money for medals. (Over $500,000 for gold)
