Lake of Isles North vs. Fox Hopyard

Anyone played both and have a suggestion for 1 to play? Looking to go to Mohegan or Foxwoods for 1 night and play 1 of those 2...

Both very good courses. I prefer Fox Hopyard over Lake of Isles but both are top courses in CT. Mohegan Sun course in Baltic is also excellent.

Fox Hopyard is on my list to play. Do they still switch the 2 Foxwoods courses back and forth to private every other year.

I really enjoy the hopyard and try and get out there at least once every summer. (haven't played lake of isles yet - likely will this year as our club pro knows someone who does an invitational at one of the courses late summer every year)

I've played both a few times, and you can't go wrong with either. Gun to my head I would pick Lake, but you'd probably have to c0ck the trigger for me to decide.

North has always been public, and South has always been private.

Also on Foxwoods website you can do a stay and play package.

Was debating between these two course myself a few weeks ago. Ended up playing Lake of Isles. It was a very nice course, but was kind of beat up. Tee boxes were bad, lots of fairways divots and ball marks and the greens were underwhelming. I understand that course probably gets a ton of traffic. Just expected better conditions when paying $140 for a round.

Has anyone played the Mohegan course? Is it still a joke or did they finally put some money into it?

Still a joke.

I can understand the fact that we're in a drought in the area. Scant rain this year. But LoI is surrounded by lakes and their stuff SHOULD BE in great conditions, and that includes the tees (there's always been a couple that appeared to be "under renovation" but - the same ones every time I went. Like people won't notice? I only play LoI in the spring or fall, and it's usually in very, very good condition... so don't know why it's not this summer, unless it's exactly that - the amount of traffic.

Hopyard, never had a bad experience there.

I do want to try and get back out to LOI in the Fall. With all the trees on the course I imagine it's beautiful. Hopefully the course itself will be in better shape.

Played Hopyard a couple times this summer and it's in the best shape I've ever seen it. Greens were rolling great. I'm sure they're being careful, as is everyone else, with the heat and they're not mown as low but I'm sure they'll be fantastic this fall. Lake of Isles is always a great choice too. Only deciding factor for me is the food is better at Hopyard, and the staff is much friendlier.
