Wentworth Hills

I've played this course off and on ever since it opened. However in the past few weeks the course is easily in the best condition it's ever been in with the fairways looking like a carpet. Not the hardest course around but the conditions are pretty spectacular and worth the price. Considering it's owned by neighboring Heather Hill - which is completely burned out every year and not much of a course - it's pretty amazing.

I need to get out to Wentworth. I swore off playing Heather Hill after last year when the course conditions were worse than Stone E Lea and Heather Hill was still charging full price. At least at SEL and Locust Valley (RIP) I knew what I was getting. I've heard rumors of the owners looking to sell Heather Hill.

HH is always in tough shape and the fairways are pretty bad in the summer (don't play there either much anymore - there are so many other great courses in NE). Pretty much the only choice during the winter months though. They've recently upgraded the clubhouse areas so that's much nicer - like they are looking for more functions perhaps. That might reinforce their desire to sell the course too? WH is in much better condition for play and reasonably priced too. Not something I'd like to play all the time as it's pretty short but fun once in a while.

Wentworth always seems to be in nice shape, though I haven't played it in a few years. Too bad it's got that section with the 2 short par 4s, I always feel like you're in a shooting gallery going through that area.

I haven't played it yet this season but of the 3 times that I have in the past, I always found it to be in good shape. I should get down there now that I live even closer

Just played the sister course Heather Hill over the weekend (couldn't get on WH as it was too busy, especially for a late afternoon round). Found out two things 1) HH is burned out worse than ever I can remember and 2) they are selling off the North course and reducing the layout down to 18 holes. Not that it's a great course but it's nice having 27 holes available especially as it's the only course that's open in the winter around here.They just don't have the water available for irrigation so they are hoping this will help. At least WH is is very good shape even in this current drought.

Played Wentworth today and can verify it's in nice shape. Greens are really soft but still roll nicely. We were stuck behind a couple of slow foursomes early on, but the ranger stopped by on the 8th hole and mentioned he told them to pick up the pace and it worked!

Played Wentworth today and the greens looked like they had been punched 4-5 days ago. Ran pretty slow too. Could definitely tell the course had a lot of play over the weekend as conditions weren't the greatest I've seen there.

Wish courses would let you know when making a tee time that they recently aerated. Frustrating not knowing until you walk up to the first green.

Wish courses would let you know when making a tee time that they recently aerated. Frustrating not knowing until you walk up to the first green.

Yeah, have learned the hard way you need to ask starting around now. My group played Black Swan and forgot to check. They had been punched Monday and were still a long ways from recovered, not surprising given the lack of rain. It would be nice if they offered a discounted rate at least....
