Ogio Shredder Review (Ogio buyers beware)

Recommended Posts

I received this stand bag for Christmas this past year. I have always used Ogio bags for stand bags, and this is the second negative experience I have had. First was with a grom, basically the same issue. First things first, I do like the bag. Its light, adequate storage, ok club top, and nice color schemes.

BUT........I get home a couple days ago and open my garage to find my bag laying on my concrete floor. I rush over to make sure my clubs weren't all jacked up, really worried about my fairway and driver. Turns out, everything made it through the ordeal except for a few scuffs on my wedges and irons. So I immediately contact Ogio customer service and was told to start a claim online. After a couple days, I get a email stating that they were not going to cover the bag. They said its normal. I replied saying I don't know how this was normal. They said the bag is meant to stand on grass or carpet. Surely this cant be there argument, how can this be? My garage is heavily textured concrete, its not slick at all. And Im pretty sure most driving ranges I have been to in my area are concrete where you stand your bag. So I guess I am to expect my bag to fall down when Im at the driving range. This could end up being very costly, heaven forbid, my bags drops on the concrete and snaps my shaft or dents my wood heads. SO even though I like the bag, its going in the trash and Im buying a new stand bag. I will never buy another Ogio product again. Bad Ogio, bad.

Ogio bag owners, please make sure you use headcovers, or you just might be sorry.

I've seen that happen to several bags. If the surface isn't rough enough they can slide and it's not just Ogio.

My Ogio Atlas bag is circa 2010 and is still going strong. Granted it is a beefy cart bag but it is a well made high quality product. When the shoulder strap broke I called customer support and, even though it was long out of warranty, they provided me with a coupon code for 60% off of anything on their website. I managed to locate another strap and made it work (still on there) and posted the code here - before it expired out a couple of members got some awesome deals on bags and attire.

Based on my experience I would buy another Ogio in a heartbeat and would highly recommend them. Sounds like slick concrete and not the design/bag is the culprit. I know my Callaway stand bag doesn't like slick surfaces when fully loaded.

I believe you can clearly see in the pics the concrete is not slick. Its textured and none of my other bags or my wife bags have slipped onto there belly.

I've had this issue with a few bags. Actually ironically the best bag i ever owned for standing up on any surface was probably my Ogio Nimbus.

I have wooden floors in my condo and my bag's legs slide all over them. My TaylorMade bag had a leg snap off the same way. I've had issues with Ping bags too

A lot of bags will have this challenge on a somewhat slick or slippery surface

Was thinking of applying some sort of rubber base to my bag's stands. Wonder if this might work for the OP also?

Hah. I like the use of "heavily textured" as a euphemism for "really dirty."

Really though, it's a fine line for stand bags. If the leg mechanism deploys too easily, you get this creeping issue on smother/harder surfaces. Not as big a problem with stiffer mechanisms, but then you sometimes have to work to get the legs out. Bags with the "mantis leg" bend tend to avoid the creeping better. Older Hoofers with the straight legs were unusable on smooth surfaces, but much of those issues went away when they put the slight bend toward the top.

The only type of bags that avoid this problem completely are cart bags. Of course, they're pretty easy to knock over. Man...us golfers have it rough!

As big of a fan as I am of the Ogio brand, Sun Mountain (in my opinion) has them beat when it comes to stand bags. Another member here (and friend BTW) posted a link to an AWESOME deal on a Sun bag and I missed out on it. I keep checking the link but no dice so far. But I have seen the very bag Dicks had on sale and it is an incredible deal on a high quality product that literally has it all.

For the people say its normal for stand bags to slide out on slippery surfaces, I agree, but that is not what is happening, the bag is actually bending where it attaches to the legs, like its caving in. I know what a rough surface is, and what i am standing it on is no different then a driveway, driving range walkway, or parking lot.

I am donating it to my local youth golf program

I can see it now. The kid that gets it says to another "hey, wanna trade bags? I read on GolfWrx that these bags stink".

I got a Nimbus and within 2 weeks, TWO of the divider linings had ripped our from the bottom of the bag and came all the way out when I pulled a club. And then soon after this leg slippage also happened in my garage

Its probably the floor, not the Ogio's fault. You probably had too many things in your bag. Go get a cart bag instead and you will never have that problem. So far, I had at least 15+ stand bags over 20 years playing golf. ALL, 100% all of them slipped on my garage floor. The water sealant on the garage floor makes the floor very slippery.

  • 4 weeks later...

Revisiting this thread to share a more recent Ogio experience. Purchased a new Grom Hybrid last month after posting in this thread. Came home and walked into my garage to find that the exact same thing happened. Fortunately none of my clubs were damaged. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the plastic bar where the leg hinge pivots was broken. Took a photo, contacted Golf direct where i purchased it from. Ogio sent me a brand new replacement bag and said keep the damaged one. I can probably figure out a way to permanently fix the damaged bag. Ogio definitely made things right. Great Customer Service.
