just from watching Rory talk in interviews about the Nike move he seemed to like the clothes and the "clean look" more than the clubs anyway. He'll be happy if he can get new clubs from a different OEM I suspect.

Huh? They more or less just said that they're not going to do hard goods anymore because they can't make any money on it, and they're going to focus on soft goods because they can make money on it. So one could very easily draw the conclusion that it does matter whether or not they make any money.

I like the move. I hate that I will not be able to buy NIKE equipment going forward but for the company I see why they are doing it. Ive said for a while I think it hurt NIKE in some ways that they only did head to toe deals. Look how much visibility UA gets out there without clubs. Even if you take Speith out of the equation there always seems to be a guy wearing a UA polo out there. NIKE can now do this for a TON of people. They can make some of the coolest clothes in the business and pour all that money into players and making great product.

 

This is definitely a by-product of trying to reach $50 billion by 2020. Smart move IMO...but it still stings.
