Nike dropping golf equipment (merged)

Sounds like Nike Golf has decided to get out of the equipment business. They will focus on apparel now.

If Tiger comes back, all eyes will be on him to see who he signs a club deal with. Again, IF he comes back, I would bet he continues to use his Nike clubs for awhile until he tests other equipment. He could sign with anther OEM or be a free agent and use whatever he wants.

Wow, huge news! While I know no one who plays Nike clubs, I know they are big in apparel. The market must be in the dumpster, with little prospect for improvement in the future. Not a fan of them, but very sad to hear nonetheless....

If PXG is smart they wouldn't give big money to either guy

 

Isn't this a lesson?

 

Nike came out and threw contracts at these guys, and are basically telling the world "clubs aren't profitable"

 

Giving 50-100M to either guy just takes out of their pockets. The economies of scale don't add up or Nike wouldn't be dropping clubs
