Cant seem to replace my Burner 2.0 Driver?!?!

Recommended Posts

Ive tried, G SFTEC, X2Hot (to be fair I dont think the shaft was up to the task) Krank El diablo, Cobra Bio Cell(again may have been the shaft). SLDR. I cant seem to find a driver that is point and shoot and long like that Burner. 10.5 with stock stiff shaft. Broke the shaft and added a Motore F1. She was safe and long all day with either shaft. I am hearing good things about the XR line, and love that they feel so light. I hit M2 and new Cobra at range, really didnt like the feel of either.

Any suggestions of current offerings that might fit the bill? What did you guys replace your Burner 2.0 with?

OP, go to a range that will allow demos. Try them out. See what feels right for you. What I like and recommend simply might be junk for you.

This is an investment in your pastime and hobby. You'll get a lot more out of the investment if it's well planned out.

If you are looking at bargains an older driver like the Rbz Tour, an Rbz Stage 2, or an Aeroburner might just be the ticket. You might also want to at least sniff around the Big Bertha Alpha 815 from last year.

For this year's offerings, take a look at the Gear Trials. Find one of the guys whose swing is close to your own. This might just give you some insider info on what might work for you. The XR is an awesome driver. The King LTD is amazing. My personal favorite is in my bag - a hidden jewel of a driver, the Srixon Z355.

Definitely follow-up in this thread and let us all know what you ended up with! Have fun and good luck in your search!

When it comes to used Drivers, FW, & some HB's I try to purchase factory Senior shafted clubs. The S clubs are not normally hit as much or as hard with Senior swing speeds. Dont really care about the shaft or grip since they are gonna be swapped anyway.

I too cannot find a suitable replacement for TM Superburner. As of now I own two (2) of them & am considering a third. Winter is a good time to find these relatively cheap on Ebay. These heads work great for me with the Graffaloy Pro Launch shaft (.350) & some lead tape. The PL shafts are now on sale @ Rockbottom for less than $13.00, so I recently bought some for cheap spares.

Good luck.

A quick update and some clarification.

1. I am a lefty who lives in central British Columbia, Canada, getting a fitting or finding a range that demo's more than one brand is a challenge.

2. SS at Nevada bob's was around 120. I dont know how accurate that monitor is?

3. Most places dont carry x-stiff, which it sounds like I may need?

4. The Cobra I tried was the F6. Havent tried LTD. Sounds like I had better remedy that quick!

5. My spin numbers and launch angles were terrible at Nevada bobs. low launch angles and high three thousands of RPM's some as high as 4500!

6. Please remember, club ho'ing is fun! I am well aware that my swing is the main culprit.

Thank you all very much for your input, keep it coming.

I think the RBZ Tour head that I play is quite similar. You could get it for nothing right now on ebay.

Yeppers, that was my move and it's a Beast
