Forged iron that's Forgiving and Looks good ?

I'm playing Callaway X Tour forged and I like them a lot. Would love a set of 2013 x forged, but not in the cards right now.

How's the forgiveness and distance?

 

Lofts are more modern so they're a bit jacked but relatively speaking I'd still say length isn't an issue. And I think they're fairly forgiving. I've hit some shots where I was surprised how far they went when the strike didn't feel good at all.

Would agree. The lofts aren't as jacked as other irons, but they do have good distance. I came from the Mizuno MP line and find the JPX 850 forged quite forgiving. Thin shots don't really seem to lose much distance and even some shots out around the toe barely lost any distance for me. It was the difference between missing the green and being on the green.

Another vote for Maltby DBM!

When you play something that feels this great, looks this nice and performs this well , it makes you realize all you're paying for with bigger OEM'S is their marketing costs.

Nike Split Cavity has to have a mention...looks good (in my eyes), relatively forgiving and won a Masters to boot.

Fourteen TF 525. Haven't played with these on the course yet but hit some balls at the range. Hit it fat with 4 iron and it got some pretty good height. Size wise, they are slightly longer heel to toe than TM MC and have a pretty wide sole but nothing that's visible at address. Very nice looking club imo.

I saw a set of these for the first time ever and was very pleasantly surprised at how compact and clean these irons are. They were on the used rack at GS for $400 or so, and I seriously considered them, except I'd need to reshaft. If they had shafts I could play with off the bat, I'd probably have bought them. Great looking set of irons.

Titleist AP2's are the best combination of size, forgiveness and turf interaction. 712, 714, 716. Great resale value and they look and feel great.

Never played the MX23's but have played numerous other Mizuno blade models - 23's are supposedly great clubs from past reviews!

Take a look at the MP-25's. I had the MP-60's for a long time and got the 25's. To me they are forgiving and just about the right size.

By forged do you mean a full forged single piece head or partly forged like the srixon Z545 which is only a forged body with steel face insert.

You guys still debating this ? Answer is still the 2011 callaway legacy black. If this iron were released in the US it would hands down be the number one GI forged iron sold.

I have the 2013 Calloway Legacy Black irons. They are forgiving with a sublime feel. The forgiveness is well hidden but there!

Was looking for the same thing. Just bought a set of Mizuno JPX 825 Pro's. Only one range session so far, but the early results are great. I have no idea why this is, but for some reason clubs with less offset - for me - tend to fly straighter than those with more offset (which tend to push slightly right.)

 

How are you liking the JPX-825? I'm looking at getting set of them or the Srixon Z545. I'm looking for more forgiveness and much easier to launch long irons.

Depends on how much weight you want to put on either side of the forgiveness and looks continuum, but the MP54 and JPX825 are my choices. I have both and my scores don't seem to know the difference, but I nearly always play the 825s because they give me just a little more confidence even though I prefer the looks of the 54s

Just went bridgstone j15df. Hit a bunch at my local golf shop and these felt the best and had the best numbers on the monitor. Bought and had my first range session the other day and seriously impressed. I know most say the j15cb are essentially the same club but I didn't get a chance to hit those

Tested these against JPX900 forged and it won out. Weird that these MP are more forgiving than JPX.
