Forged iron that's Forgiving and Looks good ?

Won't be able to spring for the new Mizuno's too $$. daughters wedding coming up

Pre owned H5 's ? There's a thought. Need to revisit the reviews / specs. I like the idea of a muscle back , more meat in the back of the sweet spot seems so right !

Bridgestone is rare in my neck of the woods . AP 2 are around but just not drawn to them after trying the AP1's Some others mentioned are just not really that forgiving

Go onto eBay or put out a WTB ad on here for a set of MP53's and thank me later. There are still next to new sets floating out there for around $300. I think they are the best all around iron Mizuno ever made. Should be just as forgiving as your MX23's and will feel even softer.

I am also a fan of the S55's. They are very forgiving for their small size.

+1, love my MP53's, if I ever am able to start playing more I'd be tempted to buy a backup set.

Great suggestion here. The poor man's AP2, and comes with a great stock shaft in the C-Tapers. Great feel and forgiveness. Adams was making such great forged irons before the TMAG buyout.

I agree with Adams. Played CMB's for a few years with Steelfibers and was the best set ever until I bought MB2's. Hands down the easiest and purest blade I have ever hit. Sure not your Miura soft but still buttery. But this year I did fall in love with Scratch Tour irons. DW and JMC built and super soft, suprisngly long and so workable. But bang for your $$ try CMB's. Super soft, long and pretty.

I played MX25's for many years. Great forged irons that have decent feel but big heads and ugly. You are missing out on newer tech that has made irons soft, forgiving and long. But you don't need the latest, CMB's are perfect!

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.

So many to choose from! My top 4, in order:

1. Pxg (either model)

2. Nike vrs forged (endo forged)

3. Bridgestone j15 df (rocket launchers)

4. Srixon 765

Nice choice there. Though only the J15DF & 765 are full forged irons. Seems the term "forged" is used very loosely these days. When I think of forged irons, they are that exactly either a single or 2 piece forged iron head, i.e. Srixon 765/965, Tour Pride M1 & M2s. These give the so called forged sound and feel (as many golfers talk about) because they are entirely forged. PXG aren't really forged just the body, with a steel face and then this plastic insert to create the feel and sound of a forged (why not make a fully forged iron?) The nike VRS forged was a a two piece construction again steel face forged body - I cant recall if made in Thailand.

IF you truly want a forged iron, then buy a truly made forged iron (it is the entirety of the forged club that gives the forged club is reputation). There is no substitute. The MMC of irons these days may only mimic this forged feeling and sound but can never replicate it.

Yea calling something forged reminds of calling something leather. I found out to advertise something as leather it only has to have 17% and can be leather particles that they mix with over stuff. Most leather furniture isn't actually "real" leather. Same with some forgings I guess.

Have to say, of the mass produced wedges, the Cleveland RTX 3 in black are really nice looking, not too bulky, widely available and not too over priced. They took some of the visual noise away that marred previous efforts. Nice heft to the head so you can feel it in your swing. Really nice camber too. Nicely done Srizon Cleveland.

Agreed 100%. Still forged body is still considered forged so I added it to my list. If we go completely forged my list in order are:

1.Bridgestone j15 df

2.srxion 765

3. Mizuno mp63

4. Nike cci forged (i actually gamed these for a super long time). They were amazing!

At the end of the day all good irons. Its just a matter of working out which you enjoying playing with, thats what matters the most!

The Apex CF16. I found them to be softer than the JPX 900 Forged that I also tested and the best hitting with the smallest dispersion. They are a joy to hit with.

Seriously these Wilsonfg V6 are it for me. Beautidul players iron with all the tech behind the club. Side by side at address they are the same shape and size as my mizuno Mp59's but MORE forgiving. The feel is perfect combo of soft and solid at impact.

I'm in the honeymoon period right now...

I especially love the long irons. I have been using my 4-I as my fairway finder off the tee. Beautiful looks, workability and just the right amount of forgiveness. Doesn't hurt that I have been hitting it 235yds from the tee. Longest 4-i I have ever hit. My simple theory is that it is forgiving enough for me to really go after it off the tee. When I miss it still goes 215 which is fine. Flight is amazing.

+1 for the srixon 565s. Got the 765 short irons coming in to make a combo set also

+1 ^^^ Triple threat here......like J-Lo......shiny, sexy and rich. Love the turf interaction and the 'zipping' sound when you wipe em off with the amino vital.

Remember the "looks good" part of this thread. Some of today's irons, to me, look garish with all the plastic and insert designs. I don't need simple, but tasteful would be nice.

I still have a set of MX 200s and never found them "buttery." Maybe I'm using the wrong ball or maybe it is my swing. However, I've hit the MP 32s and other Mizzy clubs and was lathered in butter.

But, actually, the MX 200s are not hideous and they are forgiving. So are the Hogan Apex Plus and Apex Edge and Apex Edge Pro irons.

You have mentioned all the irons I have a love for. The Hogans got me interested in forged irons. Loved them but never owned a set. The MP 32's were my favorite Mizuno irons. I never got a set because I thought I didn't have the game for them. They did however get me interested in the Mizuno forgings and I ended up with the MX 200's . I'll agree with you that the MP 32's have a fantastic feel.I know feel is subjective. I find the MX 200's to be right there with feel on solid shots. Maybe a little harsh on miss hits. They fit the bill for my liking. I have newer sets of irons but i find myself still gaming the MX 200's. The look plain and simple with the badges removed. Another plus for me because I am not one for all the flash on my irons.

Not for nothing, is the face of the PXGs "forged"? I know the body is, but their website even states the face is welded on.

As I understand it, it is two-piece forged. Most if not all Mizzys are one-piece forged. The Apex Edge iron pictured above is the first two-piece forged iron with forged Carbon Steel frame and forged face.

I believe it is a steel faced "managing steel" not forged, plasma welded to the forged body.
