Hello guys, long time lurker here that has just started to get the balls to start posting. This is a great place by the way!

I'm from Canada, Prince George B.C. We get winter here. Course closes around Halloween every year and the winters are getting longer.

My group consists of 30 somethings with wives and children. We want to golf in the winter but we dont have deep pockets. Not broke but still have lots of bills to pay.

Two years ago we had the great idea of heading to Vegas for superbowl. Four of us headed there and played 4 rounds and had an absolute blast. Fast forward a year we expanded to 8 guys. The thing about Vegas is the scenery, beautiful women everywhere. So to make the evenings a little less lonely we brought our wives. Seems like a great idea right!?!? Wrong! Vegas in February is too cold for Pool lounging, so what do the girls do while we play? SHOP! OMG they spent a fortune. Drinks by the pool is peanuts compared to this!

We are an open minded group. Pretty close friends that are honest with each other. We have two trains of thought.

1. Leave wives at home, golf our faces off and have a blast!

2. Find somewhere warmer in February (Arizona?) that can provide us with a stay and play type of experience. A perfect situation would have a b****'n pool and a facilty that we could maybe do a lesson in the morning then lunch and play 18 in the afternoon. Or we could always get up early and just play 36 everyday.

Hope that isnt too long winded.

Thank you all for any advice you may have.

Leave the wives at home at head to Bandon. I'm going to assume a southern Oregon winter will be nothing for you weather wise. There is likely to be no cheaper option relative to the quality of golf. That said, it's not going to be as stimulating as Vegas, but given that your crew felt the need to bring the wives to VEGAS(!!!!) to have fun at NIGHT(!!!!!), suggests Bandon will be perfect for you guys. :)

But in all seriousness, if you're okay with moderate temps (relatively) and playing in some weather (rain, wind), Bandon is tough to beat money wise. Plus, it's the weather that adds to the experience!

I say Austin TX , golf is great , as well as a top golf at night. ladies can have spa , shopping, lake travis and downtown and the food is awesome with Mexican and bbq . resorts you have Barton Creek, and alittle better budget wise is horseshoe bay on the lake .

Also TPC San Antonio is another good one, ladies wouldn't have to leave resort with tons to do an awesome pool and spa , guys have 2 courses and tour academy. the Texas Valero open is held there and if you wanted entertainment you could go to the Riverwalk

basically you have a few options for weather. Florida, palm springs, San Diego, Phoenix, Hawaii(cost issues)

The smaller locations like mesquite would be boring for the wives.

Florida- I haven't done this but there are a ton of places to play and good weather in feb(reason the pga tour plays in early part of the year)

Palm springs- tons of snow birds go there and it isn't super exciting at night but they do have some nice resorts

San Diego- probably the best option for the wives in Feb (Typically 70's and 80's in feb) Golf is ok and mid to high priced

Phoenix- This could be a good option with great golf and weather.

Personally for golf i would do palm springs, But find some things for your wife to do because all of these locations have shopping.
