it's probably cheaper to ship out from a central hub when you have guaranteed sales, than distribute to X number of stores and take up floor space for potential sales.

i'm totally guessing on this btw.

Yeah, but I'm thinking they could ship from the same hub to stores rather than individual addresses. Seems to me that would both allow them to combine orders to one shipment (5 orders going to one store rather than to individual addresses), plus draw people into the store to make other purchases when they pick them up.

They still haven't sold out? Have they lost their luster? Or, did they actually have a lot more inventory?

Some lost luster and probably the timing of releasing them in the middle of the annual Titleist "loyalty rewarded" promotion, Bridgestone's "2 for $70/$50" promotions, and limiting it to just Costco members. Seems like it's the same people buying them over and over and hording them, which is fine, but isn't pulling in new Costco members if that's one of their goals. Plus there are a lot of great golf balls out there at every price point.

I won't lie. The only reason I talked my wife into a Costco membership was the K-Sig. She doesn't know that, but it has worked out so far. I remember the last time they came up for sale, it was members only. I don't remember them lasting this long though. My dream is that they are in store on a semi-consistent basis. Maybe stock them through the summer months at least.

Both are solid balls and can be compared to Pro v1 (KS3) and v1x (Ksig). KS3 spins noticeably more on short shots and around the greens, but I found a little distance loss as compared to KSig. KSig launches much higher than I remember with similar driver distance to most other premium golf balls. I played each ball for several holes and both held up well. As others have mentioned, the KS3 does look "cheap" but being about $15/dozen it's hard to expect anything else.

Agree on the in store option - that would bring people in for sure. Not sure what the their thinking is on this.

Yeah, I'm sure that is true.

But you would have to ignore what people spend when they go into one.

I'm sure I'm not alone on this, but I can stop in a costco for one thing, then just a couple more things. Bottom of the cart has only a handful of things, still $125. Magic.

$125? You're way better than me or buy a helluva lot less wine. 2 spins is pretty much a no-brainer.

I have a couple dozen of the K3 on the way. I had gotten into some Wilson Staff Duo when I thought I was going to run out of the original Ksig. I like the Wilson off the putter but just too mushy off the irons.

I finally lost all of the Wilsons and went back to the Ksig original stash (about 3 doz) and now they feel clicky. Looking forward to the K3 if they are a little softer than the original.

Snuck in 9 this afternoon with the K3 today. Course was very wet and it was just my second time out, , so I’m not putting much stock in what I saw.

Feel is different from any tour ball I’ve played. It’s softer than the K-Sig, or Pro V1 but harder than a Chromesoft or B330.

Trajectory looked higher than the K-Sig. Wind didn’t seem to effect iron shots very much.

Durability seemed good.

I hit a few extra 50 to 60 yard pitches on the greens that seemed like they had dried out some. Didn’t back anything up, but all the pitches stopped very close to the pitch mark.

Costco could have easily charged the same price for K3 and the K-Sig.

They won't release them in colors. If they only have one flavor of a certain laundry detergents (kirkland / costco version) then I'm sure they won't make color ways.

That being said, I also wouldn't be surprised.

There HAS to be a 2 piece on the way in a year or so. Most companies start with 2 piecers and work their way up. Kirkland contracted out straight for a 4 piece and then went for a 3 piece. Only makes sense to offer a 2 piece for, maybe, $15 in a not to distant future?

Either way, I bought 8 dozen between the 3 and 4 piece and already have 15 dozen other golf balls around. What the hell am I doing?

You are hoarding golf balls! That's what you're doing. I hope you don't keep them all in your golf bag at the same time. I'll PM you my address so you can send me a couple dozen.

Does anyone else feel like the 3 piece look absolutely awful? They look incredibly cheap from the dimple pattern to the script to the glossy, crystal looking finish. Both felt good off the Byron GSS putter :) but might return the 3 pieces as they're beyond ugly to look at.

I don't have a problem with any of the things mentioned here. The one thing that actually like about the 3-piece over the original K-sig is the larger number printed on the ball. The number on the original is like fine print. I can read the number if the ball is in my hand. But, it's real tough to read the number if the ball is on the ground.

have to agree that the look of the K3 is pitiful. reminds me of the NXT or a lower grade, non premium ball. the KSIG has the look nailed. K3 needs a face-lift. ProV1 and V1x have the same script, kirkland needs to follow suit. after performance, LOOKS ARE EVERYTHING!

Didn't your parents tell you, looks go away, its the heart that matters...If she spins and stops on command, gotta love her no matter what she looks like...After getting my K3s in yesterday, I have to say the smell of my initial hit on the newly opened box was well below average...I'll probably spend most of my time sniffing the K-Sig going forward...

Lol, I'm describing a random quick stop on the way home from work for whatever the wife forgets on her weekly trip.

But yes, normally quite more. Now that somebody turned me on to Apothec Red in this forum..price per bottle consumed down. Total wine consumed is up.

Played 18 today about 9 each with the ksig3 and ksig4. Agreed they are solid balls but even Costco doesn't claim the ksig3 has tour performance.

I didn't hit enough quality shots to draw any conclusions on distance but I'm impressed with the spin of the ksig3.

Mine arrived today. Here's a K3, K4, and a ProV1x for reference. The cover on the K3 is super thick, much thicker than any other urethane-covered ball I've cut open. Not sure what that means for performance.

They feel super soft off the putter face though. Very similar to a chrome soft.

That took entirely too long! Not direct at you ^^. Just figured someone would have done it within 24 hours of UPS showing up

Curious how many have received 8 dozen ksig4 and another 8 dozen ksig3?

Asking for a friend?

Actually...my third order of 2 & 2 has been "lost" by UPS and Costco is sending a replacement. Secretly hoping that UPS finds them and there's an additional little surprise this week.

IIRC, aren’t you one of the “lucky” few that got a “surprise” shipment of Lethals from Woot? ?

more durable? Not sure what else it could mean. I have absolutely zero knowledge of golf ball engineering.

I admittedly don't know enough about golf balls to decipher what that may have an effect on.

I always thought the thicker the cover the less spin on short shots. Be curious if someone could open up a QST or B330-RX

I will say the durability of the K3 is beyond awesome.

So I went through my collection of golf balls I’ve cut in half. The K3 has about the same cover thickness as the TP5 does. We might be reading too far into cover thickness meaning anything. I just found it an interesting observation.

I’m definitely dubbing this the watermelon ball because of the colors. KMelon?

Glad I decided to check this part of the forum, just ordered another 4 dozen for modern club play. I saw that they have the K3 out. I am thinking they would be good for Hickory play since I normally play Wilson DUO U balls. I will have the wife get the K3 Melons for me on her account and give em a bash.

Jimmy B

bash away good sir!

What course(s) do you play hickory at on the west side?
