I have played the v2 ball for two rounds and in my opinion it is a different ball. It is much longer with the driver. It does not spin as much with irons shots pitching and chipping.

Length is comparable to my other ball Bridgestone BX. The Bridgestone was between 10-15 yards longer than the old Kirkland which I stopped playing because it was short off the tee. The drawback is that my chips and pitch shots run out longer and I will need to adjust.

I’ve played a bunch of rounds with the new ball, and agree with this completely. Longer off the driver for me, but doesn't seem to spin as well around the greens. Irons are too close to call vs the v1.

I'm with you guys on this. I've played several rounds with it now.   It's not any shorter than other balls with the driver that I'm able to notice.  I don't see any distance loss with irons either.  It seems to fly a little straighter, that could be me.  Where I see the biggest difference is that I'm not getting the zip back on the greens with short and mid irons.   That's not a bad thing, it was too much.  It bites adequately with partial wedges.  I stopped using the old ball because of the short and mid iron spin.  But I will have no problem with these.

thanks for sharing the numbers. Not sure how accurate you feel SkyTrak is on partial wedges, but that is the thing I am scratching my head about personally. I've hit several nippy pitch shots that didn't react the way I expected...

I bought the v2 last week just to test vs v1 on my SkyTrak. For me, the v1 was always a club short vs balls like TP5 and Z star. The culprit was always more spin and ball speed was 1-2 mph slower. Did a quick 7 iron comp with a v1, v2, and z star. My 7 iron spin average was ~5500 with z star, ~6200 v2, and 6600 v1. Ball speeds were pretty much the same on z star and v2 and again v1 was 1-2 mph slower on similar strikes. Distance was 4 yds shorter than z star with the v2. The v1 was 11 yds shorter. I absolutely couldn’t play the v1 due to the spin but I’ll give the v2 a shot. I was glad to see ball speed seems okay and that they knocked off a bit of spin. Will be interested to see how aerodynamics are in real world application vs indoor testing.

that’s what I experienced in the real world. V2 much better than v1 in real world. I’m glad to see numbers some numbers. Regardless of sky track,  trackman or whatever type of monitor, I assume your settings were the same shot to shot so I’m glad you did the test and got some comparisons. Thank you.

Here are comparisons of the same 3 balls on a 10 yd chip and a 30 yd pitch. The order listed was z star, v1, v2. They were both done with a 58°, I just used 56° to distinguish the type of shot. The chips were a 10 shot average and the pitch was 5 shot average. I kept similar strikes within a 1-2 yd carry range. Not a ton in the spin numbers but a couple hundred rpm could definitely allow for an extra couple feet of run out I’m sure,

I’d love to see a bigger sample size and other clubs also - assuming you have the time - at some point! Awesome work sir. Thank you

Didn’t think to post the averages on the 7 irons. The order on this list was z star, v2, v1. It was a 5 shot average on each, and strikes were all similar. As I stated before, the v1 always felt sluggish and it was hard to get similar speeds without having to step on it a bit more. I know SkyTrak isn’t a GCQuad or trackman but I find my iron numbers have always been spot on to what I get on course so I think they are pretty reliable for me. Many people would say my spin is a bit low on the z star but I don’t have trouble holding greens and I do know that fiberbuilt mats can cause spin to read a bit low as well.

I can try to hit some full wedges in the next day or two and possibly some divers as well. As for sample size, I’ve found 5-10 like strikes to be plenty when testing. I do typically get a few more in the sample but try to eliminate any that look to be at the fringe of ball speed samples or even launch angles that are out of my normal range. Hope that makes sense...

Sorry. That’s what I mean by bigger sample size - like full wedges, few mid irons (7i?) and a few driver. Perhaps wrong wording.

excuse for you to hit some more balls haha. Thanks!

edit: missed the 7i #’s just posted

interesting to see the peak height on v1 being the same as v2. I always felt v1 ballooned on me and went higher than the v2 when I played it.

Okay, I understand now as far as sampling different clubs. As for the peak height, that could be a byproduct of the photometric indoor testing vs outdoor radar testing. Could be lack of ball speed affecting the height as well 😊.

Check USGA Conforming Ball list for December.  A new 4pc Kirkland Tour Performance is listed.  Interesting that they are reusing the OG name for the new 4pc ball.  Dimples are the same as the 3pc, and the 4pc Performance One.  Getting close to seeing v3 of the 4pc.

I checked Costco, they arent on sale yet?

I found the 3 piece V1 to spin too much and be short too, and my son has as well.  I just switched to the Z Star lately, but if the 4 piece V3 is anything like the 4 piece V1 I will be switching,.  I loved that ball.

Very surprised to see a new 4 piece Kirkland ball on the USGA conforming ball list.  That means that Kirkland has two 3 piece and two 4 piece balls on the list.

The new 4 piece resurrects the original name of Tour Performance but has dots before and after the name.  This is a new Pole stamp (to use the USGA's lingo) which means that it's a new ball type.  Can't wait to try it out.

I have 5! They are my A game ball, lol. I'll even play a ProV1 before these if I'm not playing my best. (I haven't bought a box of ProV's for quite awhile, I find so many on the course)

#humblebrag I’m at 6.5dz. I will also tee up a prov before these. I should just sell them. I can’t bear to be the one to lose them. Haha
