What is meant by "3 Piece" in the 2020 Performance balls?  I took one to the ol' PVC cutter and it revealed the cover, mantle, and core, but also what appears to be a white BB in the center.

Loved the original four piece Ksig.   The first version 3 piece is ok for the money. Just picked up a box of the 3 piece V-2 and will try it today. I did not get to try the defective and recalled V-2 four piece. Hoping ,like everyone else, they get another good 4 pc. out soon.

Sorry if this question has been done before, but how can you tell the difference between the Ksig 3v1 and the Ksig 3v2 ? They look the same to me.  Thanks

V1 is in a silver and green box and V2 is in a silver and red box. "Version 2.0" is stamped on the front.

Yeah, I got that. I was wanting to distinguish between the balls, not the boxes. I am finding them on the course now and just wondered if there was a way to identify which version it is. There is no Version 2.0 stamp on the new V2 balls I just opened up. They look identical to my V1 3pc. balls.

V2 is on the left and V1 is on the right. V2 has a whiter, more matte finish. V1 text looks thicker/bolder.

I remember people always complaining about how "cheap" V1 looks and it turns out that cheapness seems to make it more durable. V2 has not been durable at all for me. Almost like the failed 4 piece relaunch but not on that level where they are cracking or anything. A few full wedge shots have scuffed the covers for me.

Thank you for taking time for the photo.  I see the difference in yours. Here is mine. Looks identical cover and stamp to me. Maybe time to cut them open and see if they repackaged the V-1s in the new box.

But to bring up a point from earlier in the thread, if they're different balls shouldn't they be stamped differently?  The USGA list has a two balls listed, one with <<Performance+>> and another <*Performance+*> (imagine the * is a filled in circle), but both the V1 and V2 seem to have the same stamp.  This is a mystery that has not been resolved for me (I suspect the factory screwed up and used the old stamp, but who the Hell am I?).

I let it go earlier in this thread but your experience is the same as mine between the two.

Ok, so I spent some time talking to Costco customer service today. I was informed that no Costco has a 4 piece ball on order from their suppliers. Apparently this means no February release for the KS 4pc.

Yes, I have spent half of my workday today working on this pressing issue.

might be like the og ksig or the v2 4pc, online only. Online exclusive doesn’t show up in the stores systems I was told.

There's a pale white dot at the end of the tee, that's actually more visible in the other half of the ball.  Is that just discoloration or what's going on there?

Going back to a few generations ago, the pale center is missing, and the ball cut a LOT more smoothly:

My Louisville, KY store had wedges, putters, gloves and the V2 golf balls on Monday (no 4 piece). They also had $3 a lbs brisket, so now I have to figure out what I want to do with 11 lbs of brisket... Current plan is to separate the flat from the point, marinate the point in a blood orange mojo sauce and make yet another run at a decent carne asada... one of the few dishes I have failed to replicate at home, despite many attempts. (take out chinese food is the other main failure point in my home kitchen). Going to smoke it on the Traeger until it hits 160, then put it back in the marinade and cover and cook it til 205. We will see how it goes!

You know what time of year it is, right?

I just bought a 19# brisket and 7# of chuck roast. The brisket point and the chuck were ground for burgers.

The brisket flat was trimmed and will be cured for corned beef for St Patrick's Day.

BTW I vote we derail this thread to speak purely of Costco meat preparation until the 4-pc balls show up in stores lol 😉

Oh man, I do have a large bag of Prague powder... maybe I should just do corned beef...

i attempted a weird Korean pastrami a few months back... cured with ginger, garlic, some dried peppers... once it was cured I smoked it with a gojuchung dry rub... it was interesting!

I’ll have to try something similar again at some point...

I like cheap briskets cause it’s fun to get weird with them... I usually bring meet to the club to feed the golf staff.

Costco is actually the closest store to my house, exactly 5 miles. I go there at a minimum once, and usually several times a week. Of course, all my cars run on Kirkland gas.

I'm getting my Chase card-Costco rebate check this week, over $600. This is in addition to the executive membership check which arrives sometime in June. The check is timed to coincide with my upcoming annual Myrtle trip. We'll do a Costco "run" and I'll pay with the check and pocket to change for walking around cash in Myrtle.

Yeah, we spend lots of time/money at Costco. Headed there later today.

From the oversized parking spaces to the uber friendly staff, there's not much Costco doesn't do right.

Except release golf balls on time!

I'm also a Costco homer... it's not my closest store, but it's definitely heavy in my shopping rotation. Fruit for the kids is a huge cost saver. Sadly my daughter doesn't like their steaks (Whole Foods or better for her... she's 7... if it's not quality steak cooked to medium rare, she's not interested. It's my greatest accomplishment as a dad).

Oh, the Traeger pellets are also not a great price or quality... it's cheap for Traeger pellets, but you are better off buying Lumberjack pellets from Rural King.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. We’ve been members since it was Price Club. However, we have called it the “$200 store” for many years as I can’t think of too many times when I’ve gone there and not dropped at least a Benjamin. Too many good bargains to walk past. We’ve just learned to pace our visits there. Just got my annual membership / rebate of $300+ which makes the Executive Membership a no-brainer.

You just have to go 3-4 times a week... you can get your spending down to like $50-75 a visit!

I doubt this is intentional and likely just found one with some mixing inconsistency in the core material.

I've currently got a bag full of random golf balls because I just got back into the game after a LONG layoff. Played through my collection of yellow top-flite X-outs, and currently knocking some Nike Juice and Crush balls around... Which I now understand are 2-piece balls optimized for distance instead of spin, for low-speed players. That's not me. I'm low-skill, not low-speed lol!

Think I'll buy 2 dozen of the 3-piece V2 ball today on my Costco run. It's gotta be an upgrade over anything I've got in my bag except the single V1x lost ball I found on the course.

They made some changes which reduced the spin off the driver and increased ball speed slightly which were the major sticking points for the V1.  Because of the spin and the lower ball speed in higher swing speed players there was a slight distance loss on driver (We're talking MAYBE 5-10 yards)

Unfortunately, in my experience, the cover has worse durability than V1. Closer to the failed 4 piece V2 than the V1.

I’m baffled at the comparisons of the v2 3pc to the v2 4pc. That have come up a few times.

My batch of 4pc v2 - at least the one sleeve I “tested”, couldn’t stand up to even a 10yd chip/pitch. Cover tore basically immediately. By the 5th shot I had 3 cuts and because I was on the side of the practice green by a bunker, sand embedded. Granted, some have had the 4pc v2 with no issues, my experience was not the same. But again, comparing a ball that makes it though a full round vs one that couldn’t make it through a few chips...How one can compare the durability of v2 3pc to the 4pc truly baffles me.

3pc v2 has been fine for me and I’m only on my 3rd sleeve.  Because they’ve been durable, I’ve lost them before they were to be retired to be shagbag/ water balls.

I hit a few full wedge shots with one in the first 3 holes I played with a ball and it was scuffed. No cart path or anything. That's where my comparison comes from. It's not anywhere near as bad as 4pc V2...just not as good as I found the V1 3pc to be in terms of durability.
