Clubs everyone else loves, and you don't: ie Apex CF16

Tried Ping G30 SFT on the simulator, but regretted that buy once on the course. Love the G though.

TaylorMade and Calloway - no thanks. Haven't seen one I like the look of other than the Speedblade. Tried many of those, the King Cobra clubs and didn't like any.

Ditto AP 1 and 2 irons -- surprised how horrid I thought the topline was, and did not like the overall look or feel on the simulator. Which was surprising given how much I love Titleist's woods -- I still do have this odd Titleist wood hankering to replace my old 983K and 980Fs.

Also not a Volkey fan. Customization options are cool but as for the actual club, not sure what the rave is about those. Bought Miura K in 52 and 60, and love'em.

In the garage:

Miura KM 007, Ping Cadence TR, Ping PLD3

Whilst blathering on an Adams lovefest thread, it struck me how out of kilter I am in my 'meh' reaction to the Callaway Apex CF16 irons compared to the universal love they get at THP and here (albeit slightly less fervent).

I even went as far as to buy a CF16 7 iron so I could try it on course.

But while I hit it OK, I hit many clubs OK.

Same thing when I tried the Ping G30 driver. And every Cameron putter.

It's nothing I can put a finger on (well, sound with the G30 and missed putts with various Scotties), but somewhat perplexing.

The reason they get so much love over there is because people are afraid to say bad things about Callaway. Probably has something to do with the trips Callaway puts on and if they say something bad, they are less likely to get picked. Haha.

White drivers

Any lob wedge

3-woods. These cost me more they help me. Plus it bugs me that the second longest club in my bag isn't called 2. I realise this is my issue, not the OEM's

Yea..

White drivers, WTF...

I first saw Ian Poulter using one while sporting ridiculous strides and that was it for me , I started to think western civilisation was crumbling...

I felt this way about the first M1 I received before I knew they tipped their shafts an inch. I went back to the M1 with an untipped shaft and it was night and day for me.

Seriously??? They tip automatically? I had an unhittable 430 m1 earlier this year and the shaft specs were my typical Aldila setup in extra stiff. Ordered from golftown custom with no request for tipping. Someone help me out here, is this true??? My m1 love is not shared with the rest of the masses. Maybe this is the reason?

TM drivers, I have owned the M1, M2, and Aeroburner. I have determined it is the shape, it is too deep front to back. I much prefer the D3 or Vapor pro shape.

Golf is just so personal, one man's trash is another man's treasure. I personally grew up playing T-Ziods and have played Mizunos since. I play MP-58s which get no love on this website but, then again...I don't care. What bothers me the most are some of the people that believe in the idea that one club is better than another, a club can only be designed to fit your swing better. The cubs are maxed out and have been for years, if you want to hit your irons longer don't buy a new set just bend yours a couple degrees stronger! Or the fact that a flat piece of metal on a stick can roll a ball on grass better than others, a good friend of mine put me in check once while I was shopping for putters and said, "A good putter of the ball can make putts with anything."

Well, the Cameron putters didn't miss any putts. You did.

The Apex and G30 may have felt different with different shafts in them, or the right grip size.

But people are different and have different preferences. YMMV, as they say on the internet.

I love threads where folks feel the need to defend their favorite even when thats not the point.

Not too many clubs I flat out out hate but I dont even try Cameron putters anymore, they don't work for me. Ditto any putter with an insert, distance control issues. Most Ping irons give me fits, particularly the I20s. I wanted to like those, but they vexed me. Super Stroke on anything, forget it. Most grips out now feel weird to me. I can only handle Tour Velvet or GP cords. XHot or XHot2 did nothing for me either.

So that leaves me plenty of options.

Well this topic is perfect for Mizuno. Mizuno has been loved by some of the worst golfers and yet even some of the medicore golfers across this great world.. When ever someone brings up Mizuno's as "great" all the giggles start. . Lets face it Mizunos are the walmart clubs of golf, which is fine .

Any club with a custom stamping.

Although I could see it being useful in some situations, like if the alzheimers kicks in you can check your wedges to be reminded of your own name. That's if you didn't stamp it with your favourite caddyshack quote.

I played one round with an old guy once. Still not sure if gunga galunga was his real name.

Chrome Soft golf balls. Given all the hype I quickly put a dozen in play. I was sure I would be catapulted back to my balata ball playing youth. Turns out I hated them. Performed terrible loosing distance on my drives. To top it off they didn't feel that soft to me either.

I also despise vokey wedges. Hate the look & feel. They only lasted a few rounds in the bag before heading to the archive.

Haha what do you think of this idea:

I've been a huge Top Gun fan since I was a little kid. I want to get stamped on my wedges this:

58*: SWITCHING 2 GUNS
