Clubs everyone else loves, and you don't: ie Apex CF16

I've never had any luck or attraction to vokey's when I try them. They are beautiful to look at but then at address they just look odd somehow. Can't explain it. I hit them like crap also. They are widely known as the best wedges available but I just can't get with them. I'm steep with wedges so I need extra bounce and a wide sole to not dig.

 

Obviously the Indian not the arrow but that's one of mine.

For me, Vokey wedges are awful. I am not sure how anyone can love these clicky, casted things. The face felt hot and jumpy, but the ball went nowhere. i had no feel around the greens.

Titleist clubs....Yes all of them. Especially the Putters, Wedges and Drivers. I hate the ball too.

Hybrids.....why yes, all of them. I cannot hit them to save my life.

Wedges....all of them but Cleveland, Callaway, and Bridgestone

Ping Irons - Since the i/3 I have never tried a set that I got along with. In fact I haven't liked a Ping club since the i/3 irons and the G5(I think) driver. I hear they make excellent fairways though

TM irons - I have never hit a set since the old 300 tours that I liked

Cobra clubs pre KING series. Cobra has done a 180 in my eyes. I HATED the BIO-CELL

SLDR - I hit them all, the SLDR-c wasn't horrible, but the rest were like a brick on a stick

Mizuno irons - the triple grain flow super 10 times in japan forged in a volcano by Thor's hammer and finished in a factory named after a skateboard move have never done it for me since the MP-14

Bridgestone Putters - Really, why bother?

TM Wedges - Plate metal with grooves on a stick

I played Bridgestone Irons from for most of the 2000's, before that a set of i/3's. I played a TM driver up until around the R1, played Bridgestone after that. I played Cleveland wedges. Nickent 3 wood. Ping putter then a Byron then started SSB Putters.

G30 played bad for me also when tried against my G25. I was considering doing the same as you as regards buying a CF16 to test on course(such is the hype).

 

Guys love the Srixon Z745 and Z535 irons, but they went low and short for me on my tests.

 

Think I will stick with my i25s.

 

I totally agree about the G30. Was fired up about getting it being a Ping guy. i20 was a machine for me. G30 was terrible. Spin was very inconsistent. Drives would fall out of the sky and go nowhere. Probably more shaft than anything but it's now a mental thing for me. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

I Hate all Cleveland wedges ever made with the exception of the 900's. I also hate all Ping Drivers. That being said, I Play Ping I-20 irons and Scratch wedges. I also like wedges made by Vokey and Tour Edge. I despise any clubs made by Nike....but the thread is called "clubs every one loves, but you don't' The only people that like Nike clubs and designs are being played to pay them. Bo Knows Callaways, last time i looked in his bag.

I know alot of people prefer the feel of a forged iron but its swings and roundabouts! for me as i get great feel off cast irons (I have owned 2 sets or so of forged Mizunos some time ago and other forged models) :)

 

I like my cast clubs XR pro's as their cheaper/feel great - I mean i also play vokeys and the feel off them is sweet so not a forged club in the bag.

 

So I guess i find people who wont even look at a club due to it being cast (But their vokeys are ok) :)

 

I find the shaft choice is 50+% in my feel decision on a club; PS sorry if ive gone off topic!
