Just wondering if anyone on here has any connections to this course and could possibly help me get a round or two on this course. I played it a few months ago and I'm possibly playing in an event there next month. I am pretty sure this course is private though. So if anyone can help please let me know. Would love to play.

I wanted to join Riga earlier in the year. I wanted to play in the mid amatuer earlier this month. It seemed to complicated to get involved. I had many rounds already played and a registered handicap through an app i bought off my phone, Golfnet. Which gave me association to ct country club and membership to usga. Paid the 30 dollar fee. Needless to say can barely do anything on usga.com and the only place I can find any record of my handicap is on ushandicap.com and someone from Riga said they only accept GHIN and I wouldn't have been able to get enough rounds in on time.

Correct. RIGA is GHIN (as are most clubs and organizations, GHIN is the most prevalent in the US, so accepted almost everywhere). There are various clubs in the area that have cheap fees to let you join. Like Jamestown. $70 gets you membership there and GHIN.

 

Start now to get your GHIN hdcp so when next year rolls around, you'll have an established HDCP with GHIN and can do all the tourneys you're eligible for. Thing is Jamestown is 1 year and always starting in the March/April timeframe for renewal.

GHIN powers the computation for some state golf associations (not all of them) via private country clubs. From time to time, if you are playing in a tournament at a club that uses the GHIN service for their members.. the tournament director might not be educated on the fact that GHIN is not the only USGA licensed service for handicaps. If you are having an issue, your tournament's director is welcome to call us @ (910) 215-8800 or the USGA directly to verify your club's compliance and your index.

"Some" in this case really does equal "most" (Only 5 state associations use GolfNet, and then there's Canada) . But yes, most do require one to be findable in GHIN.
