I was just coming around to thinking he was alright until he shook his finger at Rory after they both made birdie, so classless.

Dude... Rory deserved the finger after the way he acted! Nothing wrong with it! Me personally, I wouldn't have done it but Rory is acting like an a**!!

Is there video of this? I didn't catch it..

Did you watch the same thing I did? Rory was laughing, and they walked off the green patting each other on the back. Just having a bit of fun trying to match Rory's showmanship. I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Exactly. Lighten up dude jeez you wonder why people think Americans are uptight bores.

The only thing "classless" would be a whiney, sore loser? Fortunately, Patrick Reed has been a humble loser in the last Ryder Cup and now a proud American winner. He has demonstrated the meaning of "class" in both situations. He was the point man for the entire team and that was evident to both American and European fans in this Ryder Cup.

Reed just controlled Rory from hole 1. No one was stopping Reed he was a runaway freight train. Unfortunately for Rory he was on the tracks and got the smack down.

Really? Reed won 1-up, far from a smack down. They both played great golf.

Incredible on the front nine, but both of them seemed to run out of gas on the back nine. Both were over par on the back. Mickelson/Garcia was phenomenal from start to finish with 19 birdies and very fitting that they ended up tied. Neither of them deserved to lose.

There is only a select few on this site who have been pumping and defending Reed from the get-go. Many posters in this thread are not some of that group.

Just throwing that out there because I think that kind of thing is funny.

Patrick has earned his success and I'm happy for him that people are finally recognizing him as a very special player and person. We all have done things when we were young that we wish we would have done differently. That's what growing up is all about. Patrick deserves a fresh start and our congrats for what he has become.

Thankfully I am on the side of having always defended him here. I actually don't mind a bunch of the band wagoning because it means greater exposure for Patrick and his brand. Patrick likes pressure so the more people expecting things from him the better in his eyes. I think he will have a great year next year and contend in the majors better than he has in the past. Not gonna say something crazy like he is gonna win one or multiple ones...we all know that many things happen major weeks. After the Olympics a different Patrick was out on the PGA Tour. a more focused player with less crap going on. I think if he keeps the same mentality (tough week in week out) then he will do great. I do think his first major will be an Open Championship because of his drawing the ball. Masters will be tough without the fade as will the US Open. Here's to seeing Patrick make the top 5 in the world for real this year.

So if anyone wants to know what Patrick is really like let me give you an example of something I witnessed today.

Me and three other guys were playing one of our home courses here in The Woodlands (the old TPC) which is hosting the 1st stage of q school next week. Lot's of really talented guys out here getting ready. On our 8th hole we come up on a twosome with a guy giving this guy direction and going over every hole location and and options to play them. When we drove up it was Patrick. He was in pants and a golf shirt going hole by hole with a young kid who was here to play his 1st stage. They were spending 20-30 min each hole in the Texas heat (today was 95) going over every option. I don't know who the kid is but I know he isn't related to Patrick. We stopped and talked with them for a few min and congratulated him on the Ryder Cup which of course he was grinning ear to ear about but immediately went back to helping the kid. Seriously? you just WON the Ryder Cup and could do whatever you want and you decide to come caddy for this kid in a practice round? Patrick wasn't playing. He didn't have his clubs. He was driving this young man around teaching him how to dissect a course properly. So much respect for someone of that status knowing how important it is for people who were where he was basically needing their advice. You can't say that $hit is fake. There was no media. no cameras. nothing. He was out there two days after giving back to someone. That is the kind of guy Patrick is. That is great stuff. Just wanted to share.

I'm a Euro but became a fan of Reed at Gleneagles. Plenty of Europeans criticized him for shushing the crowd but for me that's what the Ryder Cup is all about. It is meant to be gladiatorial and I think Reed understands that more than any American has for quite some time. That said I think Rory made a mistake by getting the crowd so involved on Sunday. Better off trying to silence them with quiet good play than to antagonize them to that degree. Both Rory and Reed invested so much energy on the front 9 and over the first two days that on the back 9 they looked like two drunk guys having a fight.

Never had a problem with Reed, and his performance at the RC confirms what I have always though... What. A. Player.

If he doesn't win a major next year I will be shocked. SHOCKED.
