SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

Recommended Posts

Review to come after first round tomm. I didn't even know they were out, I was just checking out the labor day sale and found out they had 50% extra on trades. Low and behold to my surprise they got one set in with my favorite shaft Nippon Modus 120 as a stock shaft!! Everything worked out nicely.

Some initial thoughts on appearance:

Stunning looks very similar to 745's. They seem to have a longer blade length close to Bridgestone J15CB and also seem to be 1/4 inch longer like the j15CB. Swing weight feels nice. I love the new stock offering Nippon Modus 120 and glad they put the Tour Velvet 360 instead of those horrible red lamkin grips.

Wow! Very cool! They look to have much more rounded lines than the 45s, a little more classic looking. I like them. From the pics, though, I am not impressed with the new woods. I much prefer the 45 line in the woods and really enjoyed playing them for the first time yesterday. This is a brand that should definitely NOT be overlooked if anyone is in the market for new clubs. Hit em well!!!

If people would choose on performance and looks; Srixon will be huge. But they need to still establish their brand here for equipment.

These look great! I agree that the stock shaft and grip are great moves. They should also follow what they did prior and keep a no upcharge list of shafts.

From the pics they just look to have a little more toe weight, a little more chrome and visually toned down VT sole. I can't wait to hit them to compare to my 45s and check out the new RTX wedges.

Don't know if it has mentioned before but the srixon 745/765 and mp-25s look a lot like tourstage MR23 / z101s. And that's not a bad thing at all (cool)

stock modus is legit

No doubt!! First set in a while I didn't have to change the grips right away as well. Love the Tour Velvet 360.

Yeah, I priced out a few sets with KBS FLT, PX LZ, DG AMT, and DG Tour Issue and the prices didn't change. Nice touch by Srixon.

1st round complete with the 765. Played a difficult course with firm conditions Maderas. The irons performed as expected with great feel, decent forgiveness and nice turf interaction. My swing is so so these days (in the middle of lessons) but I did have some flushed shots and man they went long and far and the feel was soft yet dense and amazing! Very quality build and I really liked the swing weigh and overall balance. Just quality!! I feel the winner was the mid-long irons, had an easy time hitting them. You honestly can't go wrong with this combo and I am very impressed. I will report back after a few rounds under my belt.

The 765's looked and felt awesome, I really wanted to buy them but the 565's were more forgiving and gave me better numbers. Enjoy them, they are one of the nicest irons I've ever swung.

Would consider the z745 or z765 or the new mizzy mp66.

New Bridgestone B X blade looks interesting, and of course,Miura CB 57 or Kuros.

Feel wise there's a bit difference between these sets in terms of tactual preferences.

For JP it's about an iron's accuracy and distance consistency, then feel, then appearance.

Preference might be Z765, z745, MP66, Miura, then the Onoffs.

Or maybe Miura first...hdk. Probably in either DG or C Tapers.

Had it with higher launching Nippons.

Gawsh! Those MP-66 are nice! Nothing we'd want to see over here *sarcasm, give us some JPX 900 garbled mess.

Only have a 4 iron and that and the 5/6 iron have the tungsten weights in them. I absolutely nutted one 5 iron shot into the wind to a back left pin tucked. It was a thing of beauty and will definitely keep me coming back!! Just butter! Haha

Those look awesome! How easily is it to control the ball flight with them? Did you try playing around with flighting your shots?

As a side note, I was just messing around witg the options on the Srixon web site and it appears that the Project X LZ is a no up charge option which is also awesome (I'm sure some wrx'ers will be glad to hear that).

Hit the same combo yesterday and you've ordered a winner. I'm not gonna order anything to replace my 745/945's but if I did, these would be the ones.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Good to hear that, my current irons have the C-Taper Lites in them and I want a slightly lower launch, if it in fact makes any difference. Like the feel of the Tour V's. I was thinking of the 965s in the higher numbers, but I don't quite have the game for those! Guess I can always mix and match later. :)
