SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

Where did anyone from srixon say the new z65 are worse for heel strikers? I understand why we think that, but have they actually confirmed it?

For the record, I have played both the z745 and z765. My miss is towards the heel. I found myself losing the z745 left more often than I lose the z765, but I don't have enough rounds with them to confirm anything, could be random.

Edit: They are plenty long, but even better they seem so easy to hit.

Also, the u65 is great.

This is really good to hear. I tend miss toward the heel and was considering the 745 for that reason.

Looks like the 565 Irons are back ordered until the beginning first week in March. Wonder if the 765's are next with so many satisfied buyers?

Finally got my 765s, and went to hit them today. Absolutely love them, launch is a bit lower than my 2013 Ping Anser/PX5.5 and the feel is incredible.

Anyone wanna buy some 2013 Ansers? haha

What shafts? 3-PW in the 765's or?

4-PW in 765, I had 3-PW in the Anser, but got rid of my 3i for a hybrid this winter (too much of a gap between 3wood and 3i).

Shafts in my 765 are Modus3 Tour 120S.

Srixon stated they moved the mass of weight more towards the toe to effectively put it more in the center location with the new 965's. Thus one would conclude the 945's were weighted with most of the mass center/heel. That's the way I interpreted it based on their own description of the weight in the new irons. I haven't hit the 965's but I love the 945's I purchased 2 months ago and I seldom miss toward the toe as I'm more of a center/heel impact on my irons and these things are the best performers I've had in over a decade of hitting irons. I bet the 965's are sweet as well but the 945's I know perform perfectly for me so I have no interest in hitting them. I'm actually looking to obtain another new set of 945's so I can continue with this club once these wear out in 3 or 4 years.

The danger of center/heel is the occasional Japanese hook>>> Fortunately I haven't hit one of those yet with these beauties except in the back yard one day while pounding some balls towards my practice green up in the field.

PS: Hcp has droped 0.8 since making the switch. Hoping to get to a + capper again and with the iron improvements I've seen during "winter" I'm feeling pretty confident about doing just that.

I got my irons tonight and immediately went out to the real feel mat for a session. These things are amazing at impact. Love the turf interaction--they just cut through it. I was really surprised with how good the 565s felt in the long irons... Super easy to hit straight through the bag too.

I then brought them into the shop to check the specs. They are heavy--really heavy. D5+. I ordered them at standard specs. I'm a little bummed about this--is it worth trying to get them adjusted to match the specs they were meant to be? It would be a total pita to pull them all apart and port them to take them down a couple swing weight points. I'm a bit nervous to check the length, loft and lie next...

I received a set today and took the 5i and 9i for a test drive at the range. I'm replacing my first gen AP2's w/ PX 6.0 and was quite pleased with the first few swings. They definitely fly farther and seem to have a lower flight w/ less spin. A tad heavier and longer than the AP2's. Looking forward to playing a full round with them tomorrow.

Srixon have now decided to offer the Z565/Z765 in LH in the UK. This is really pleasing to hear that I can at least go out and try these. I was going all Mizuno this year, but the Z565's look great, and possibly even a 565/765 blended set could be nice. Though I'm a bit worried about the strongish loft on the 765's. If they're anything like the Mizuno JPX900 Forged, I couldn't flight them at all without weakening the lofts fairly drastically (2-3 degrees). No such problem with the Mizuno JPX900 Hotmetals, because the CG placement helps launch them naturally higher for me. So I'm thinking the same may be true of the 565's. So could be the 565's are the way for me to consider.

Sucks man. I was worried about my SW at +1/2 and Srixon told me tough nuts but when they actually arrived were D5 and not like D7-8 like I was fearing

Since I have the time I think I may send them back. I know it's just a couple swing weight points but it's a lot of money to have to pull them apart and put a ton of work in to get what I want.

I've gotten out to his these some more, and liking them more and more as I get used to them. Off centre strikes are great - awesome feedback and really not that punishing, pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

Now to wait for the foot of snow to disappear so my club can open and I can start playing with these puppies...

So I went through a Club Champion fitting this morning in NJ (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED btw) and the trackman darling were these 765s. The setup, feel and performance data wasn't beat by any club combo I tried. I will certainly be eye balling a set of these. One interesting thing I found was that the spin is quite low from these heads.

Can you expand on your club champion experience in NJ? I am considering going there for my next fitting. Thanks.

Sure, np. Simply, I would HIGHLY recommend the CC guys in northern NJ. My fitting was with Jon B.., great guy. He was very knowledgeable on all of the various options and they have trackman. I never felt rushed throughout the process and I tried a ton of various head/shaft options. They have Titleist proVs for the fitting, but you could certainly bring your ball of choice with you if you wanted everything to be as exact as possible. They are very accommodating. All options were open for me to try out and Jon recommended a number of combos based on my numbers (CS, BS, launch, tempo, spin etc.). I'm thrilled with the experience and I totally intend to give them repeat business not only for any future fitting needs, but for club repairs as well. Jon actually re-shafted my hybrid while I was trying the EPIC driver. Their setup is top notch. GO! You will love it.

PS: The EPIC ball speeds appear to live up to the hype, at least for me they did. I couldn't find any setup that exceeded the standard EPIC and Veylix shaft combo.

Well I never placed in a tournament until today and my ball striking was prime. Honeymoon phase? Not sure but it sure feels great

Srixon irons are the real deal. 71 today for me on my 72.9/141 track. 6 birdies but a double w an OB all on par 5. Irons are real performers. Can't remember the last round with a bad strike with the Z's. The Driver cost me 3 shots today and a 3 wood off the tee was the culprit on another. #Srixon.

Some initial thoughts from my first range session with the 765s vs the Bstone J15 cbs I've bagged for a year and a half.

The shaft is the same (Modus 120 x, straight in). The lofts are standard and very similar to the j15s.

The 765s definitely have a higher apex.

The 765s have better distance control probably due to the higher apex.

The distance is very close with the J15s maybe being a hair longer. (Honestly the J15s are a little too long for that type of iron imo and I would have considered any distance gain a negative)

The 765s do not feel as "soft" or "solid" as the J15s.

The 765s are more forgiving on misses high on the face but he j15s are more forgiving on misses low on the face.

The sole interaction feels great, divots were shallower with the 765s.

I will post more as I get more experience with the clubs but my initial impression is very positive.

Think I have found my set up for the year. Picked up a set of lightly used 745's with Nippon 120 X at +1". Had the lofts lies all checked and adjusted and new grips. Range sessions were amazing. Perfect ball flight, half club longer than my previous set and super accurate. First men's club tournament round was Thursday of this week and shot 77 with a triple on one hole (putters fault). Ball striking with the irons was key for one of the better rounds I have had in the last year. (FYI...I play off a 9.5 index). These are staying in the bag for a while!

How off were the lofts and lies when they shipped? I haven't checked my new 765's yet but my bridgestones were all over the map when I got them.

Mine were used but they were pretty close. Lies were standard and pretty spot on when I got them but had them adjusted to 2* up as that is what I play. Lofts checked after and needed adjustment on almost every club but might have been due to the lie adjustment prior? Probably a good idea to have them checked right out of the box if you are picky.

Are the 765's a smaller blade length than the J15CB's or pretty much the same? Only thing that puts me off the Bridgestones is that I find the blade size a touch on the large side.
