SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

Loving life with the 765s.

The consistency of distance has been unreal and what I like the most. They are also pretty forgiving, and really help on slightly thin shots which is my usual bad one.

On the subject of lofts, I had number checked just after they arrived as I had a strange yardage gap between 8 and 9, and all clubs were spot on, apart from the 8 which was 2 degrees strong! Had it adjusted and all fine.

The other update is that I now have a couple of rounds with the u65 23deg in place of the 4 iron - it's been a great replacement. The u65 just has that bit more forgiveness and the distance fits perfectly with the set. Flight is also a tad higher but through the wind, which I think will be better for me at all times of the year.

Day 2 with the 765's.

These are very good irons. Looking at the design of the 765's vs 745's had me hoping that they would correct something that I had suspected about the J15 cb's. That being that the center of gravity was slightly off of center towards the heel. If a set of irons I play isn't going to have a center of gravity that is dead center of the face then I would prefer a slight toe side bias rather than a heel side bias.

After 2 range sessions with the 765's my initial and unscientific impression is that the CG is less heel biased than the j15's.

Finally found a shop with a Srixon fitting cart. Holy smokes, these might be my next set of clubs. I just popped in for a minute and really didn't do a fitting. I hit Modus 125 and 120's, both stiff. 120's were too light and the 125's were lovely. I'm still not sure about flex though. 6 iron SS was 86-89. I remember spin being kind of low, 4700. Disperion was really tight with a 5 yard draw. That's too low spin for a 6 iron right? I'll have to find the right shaft but the heads are spectacular. I first thought the toe was a little more rounded than I'm used to but once I started swinging they looked fine. These might be a perfect combo of looks and forgiveness.

If you're playing the MP64's I'd definitely be trying the 945/65s. Hard to beat the 64's but the Srixon's are very easy to hit in the mid to low irons as well.

Lucky enough to be on holiday in the Southern Hemisphere and got my set out for the second of two rounds today. Got another two planned for the week.

Absolutely love the irons! The 565 4 iron is great and the 765s are overall easy to hit. I personally love the feel of the Tour V shafts.

Did I mention that the irons look very, very sexy? :)

Just indoors on a monitor and not quite the same shafts, but the Mizuno had consistently faster ball speed, feel went to the Srixon, looks are personal but I prefer the head shape and size on the Mizuno's. I didn't like the rounder toe on the 765's, like the 745's better. Two great irons, can't make a wrong decision.

grrr I got my long awaited combo set yesterday. if it wasn't so close to valentine s day, I would take them to bed with me.

that s how sexy they are

I ordered combo set from Edwin Watts with the lofts 1* strong on half. How long did it take for you to receive the irons?

took around 5 weeks. but I m in europe and there was an administrative issue that put order on hold for 2 weeks.

just found out a friend of mine is actually distributing srixon in my region. he said I could place an order thru him or any given pro shop, custom fitted irons would be delivered within 2 weeks. but again, that s in europe

I hit both extensively along with mp25. performance was pretty much identical but just hated the feel of the mizunos. This was a disappointment having loved my 825 pro's

Not sure if it's the boron but the new mizuno didn't fell anywhere as good as the Srixon.

I also hit the mp5s and they felt great, but I just didnt feel I was good enough to use them out on the course. Play off 8 in U.K. But confidence is king

I've played both sets and I prefer the z765 irons. Nothing wrong with the 900 Forged, but they couldn't beat my other sets, like the 714/716 ap2. So far, I would say the Z765 are as good or better than the ap2.

My 765 just arrived with Kbs tour stiff shafts.I payed the 745 last year and a half and loved them.Got a good trade in and discount on the new ones so why not. When I received my 745 I had my local golf store check my lofts and some were off a degree. When he checked them and bent them, the machine put dents on the sole of my clubs and it bothered me.I know they are forged and will get banged up,but at least I get to do it.Is it normal to have dents and nicks caused by checking the irons lofts and bending them?.

I had a fitting yesterday for the 765. I've been playing 716 AP2 (stock with S300 AMT) since they were released last year. Having read all the comments on this thread I had to try the Srixons. Tried a few different shafts but the fitter settled on Steelfiber i95. It was my first time trying Steelfibers. I can see why they're such a popular shaft. The combination of head and shafts felt superb. My only concern is going to be the cost of the shafts. 5-pw standard length and lie.
