USGA Handicap is 3.3.

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017

My goal for 2017 is to break 70 and improve my ball striking consistency. My short game has bailed me out a lot in 2016 and my hope is that I can improve my GIR statistic to be in better position for more birdies and put less pressure on my short game. Additionally, another goal of mine is to win my club championship; I wasn't able to play this year but know that with some consistency its definitely achievable.

  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf

I've always liked Callaway clubs (currently play the irons and FW woods) and its time I get properly fitted for clubs rather than trying to cobble together a bag without knowing my exact specs. This is an incredible opportunity and it would be cool to see Callaway's facilities and meet the staff. I also have to admit that getting out of the Chicago weather in December is an added bonus!

My age is 71, handicap is 9. I'm been playing golf for well, over 50 years!

My goals for the 2017 year are, to improve my flexibility, continue my last years goal to improve my putting, and strength/ flexibility. Last year 2016, my goal was to Improve my putting through guided practice and that goal was reached. But I will continue to work on that goal.

I would like to be fitted for new clubs, as I feel that as time has passed, my game has also changed. Through the technology avilable today, I would benefit from clubs that are appropriate for my changing swing. My goal will be to manage my game through improved clubs fitting my swing and fitness.

I am a 12.4 index.

My goals are to increase my distance on drives by 20 yards and irons by ten yards. I am trying to improve my shots from 150-200 yards. On the short game I want to be more consistent out of the sand.

I want to go through the fitting process because I have always been interested in a thorough fitting process relative to the shafts in both my woods and irons. In particular I am interested in having my wedges fitted to my game more effectively. I am also excited about a fitting so I can see the amazing technology in Carlsbad. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and help my game.

    • I would love to see how my game looks on a Trackman, and being custom fit by the best in the business would be an unbelievable opportunity. I think it would make a tremendous impact on my game, as the only club I have been truly fit for was my Driver recently. Combined with Callaway's continued progression as a leader in club technology, getting fit by their professionals would be an unmatched opportunity. I continually struggle off the tee, and I think the right tools could dramatically improve my fairways hit.

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017: My goal is to decrease my handicap to <1.5 so that I can play in the regional match play events in the championship flight, to play the city and SCGA regional championships and to play in a US Open qualifier.

I'd also like to see what effect the subtle combinations of shaft, stepping, and weighting have on my woods.

Current USGA Handicap: 6

I've been in cancer treatment for the last two years and have recently completed most of it. During that time, I was pretty much limited to occasional range sessions. I had all my clubs set up for a much slower and weaker swing and they worked for me then. I'm stronger now than I was even before I started my treatment and my bag needs a complete overhaul. In the coming year, I'm looking forward to working back to my previous swing speeds and yardages, especially on my tee shots. I’ve also neglected my putting during that time and it’d be great to get going with a putter that actually fits my stroke. My putting goal this year is to overcome my fear of three footers and to gain confidence on all my short putts. Golf will continue to be the world's most perfect distraction for anyone with cancer, if they can manage to play, even if it's just practice. It was and continues to be the thing that keeps me going with my mind on something other than my predicament. In the coming year, I'm planning on playing several times a week and keeping my handicap at least where it is, if not improving on it.

I’ve spent hours on YouTube watching the Callaway Tour truck videos thinking….wow, if only. I’ve always liked the looks of Callaway’s players clubs; the way they sit, the top lines, the toes, everything just fits my eye. Currently, I play Apex MBs with PX graphite shafts which, with my regained strength, just don't work for me anymore. My driver head and shaft combination also might just be the two worst things on earth for me. With my swing speed and contact, I should be hitting it 25-30 yards further than I am but I just can't seem to get it right. Nobody could use expert help more than me and Callaway's experts are just the ones to do it. On the other hand, I’ve got an original XR Pro 4 wood that never leaves my bag. I’ve got more confidence in that club than any I’ve ever used and I love the way it sits at address...but I'd sure like to try the new one, with the right shaft. I also have three black MD3 wedges but their specs have never fit me very well either. A set of those new FORGED MD3's with expertly fit shafts and bounces would be just the thing I need! Now that I’m back at it and able to practice daily again, it’d be incredible to be fit with my clubs of choice and to have the confidence of knowing that it’s been done properly. I’d rather win this than the lottery….really.

USGA index:

3.7 - Full Disclosure, I haven't played enough golf to keep USGA handicap the last two years, so this is based on TheGrint

Goals:

With two year old twins, my golf game has struggled the last couple of years because I simply haven't played much golf (9 rounds total... :stink: ). My first goal for 2017 is to play more golf, and now that the twins are a little older I think it's possible and hopefully get them to the range a few times with dad to learn and enjoy the game. From there I want to re-establish my USGA Handicap (when I stopped I was a 2.2) so I can play in the 2017 Minnesota State Mid-Am Championship, make the cut and finish in the top 25.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

For me as a person that considers himself a decent player, but wants to take it to the next level to compete in local events I've found and heard that in order to do so fitting is a non-negotiable. Being able to work with an industry leader like Callaway (it will be impossible for them to get my original XR Pro 16* Fairway out of my bag even with this fitting - favorite club by a mile in my bag) and their best fitters to determine exactly what I need for my game would be an invaluable experience for me or any golfer. I want to know what I don't know or at least as much of it as possible, and believe that Callaway and their experts can show me why this shaft vs. that shaft, or playing at this lie angle will impact the ball flight this way and so much more. Walking out from a fitting knowing that you have the right equipment with the right specs is a big part of the battle as you'll walk out confident knowing that you have exactly what you need in your bag to perform at your absolute best.

Current USGA Handicap- 4.4

My goals for 2017 include regaining some of the distance that I lost due to a hip replacement surgery. I have not been able to hit the ball as far as I could before the surgery but I do feel 100% better than I did prior to surgery. I would also like to find more consistency in my long irons. I tend tend to want to hit my hybrids more than my long irons because I am not as comfortable.

I would like to be fit at Callaway because with al of the years of knowledge that goes into the technology of the clubs and the fitting process there would be no doubt that I would be playing exactly what I should be. It would be nice to know that equipment is one of the factors in my golf game I do not have to worry about.

As a mechanical engineer myself (though not in the field of golf club design), I would love to have the opportunity to visit their headquarters in Carlsbad and learn about their research, design, and manufacturing processes. I also feel that a properly fitted set of Callaway clubs would be a tremendous help to my goal of playing better, more consistent golf.

Current USGA Index is 15.5

My goals for 2017 are to continue to work on my iron consistency as I have a problem keeping my swing tempo for the entire 18 holes. Second would be to improve the distance I hit my irons as I have lost 5 to 8 yards this year, turned 68.

Why I want to be fitted by Callaway......I have not been fitted for clubs since May of 2010 and feel that my swing has changed since then. Callaway has improved their line of clubs the last two years and now are one of the top manufactures. It would be an honor to be fitted at the Carlsbad fitting center.

Current USGA index (or 18 hole scoring average):

I haven't had an index for a few years, so my average 18 hole score is usually around 82.

Goals for 2017:

Honestly, I'd just like the opportunity to play more often...that's my goal. And, when I play, I'd like to rekindle the ability to shoot in the 70s consistently. As a father of 5, with 1 child who has special needs, and 2 children who were adopted 3 years ago from Ukraine, I haven't had a lot of time to play in the last few years. I used to play 3-4 times a month and had my handicap down to a 4.7, but with the responsibilities at home and work, I haven't been able to play as much as I would like.

Why do I want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf?

Well, as a lefty, I have always had the challenge of finding good clubs that fit and meet my needs and my game. Over the years, lefties have seen our options increase, but there is still a gap between what is available for righties versus lefties. For the 25+ years I have been playing golf, I have used every type of equipment Callaway has put out...from drivers to wedges to Odyssey putters. I love Callaway equipment, and I think they are always on the cutting edge of R&D in the golf industry. I have never had the opportunity to truly be fitted for equipment that would fit me and my swing. I have always been a gear nut. When I was playing more frequently, I would often tweak with my equipment trying to find that extra yards or a little more forgiveness. I love researching golf equipment that could better my game, whether it's golf shafts that fit my swing speed and launch angle, or wedge grinds to fit the playing conditions I face. I would love the opportunity to talk with the experts about the technological side of my golf game and how technology could improve my play. Plus, as a big Phil Mickelson fan, I'd love to see how someone like him goes through a fitting process.

Golf has always been the major outlet for me to unplug and have some time to reset and recharge. Honestly, it would be an honor to be selected to participate in something like this. Usually, a promotion like this isn't offered to left-handers because of the limited options and small market segment that lefties comprise. However, if you do choose a lefty, I'd love to be the one selected!

Thank you to GolfWRX and Callaway Golf for offering such an amazing promotion. Good luck to all that enter!

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 - shoot a round under 90. Improve striking and swing consistancy. And putting. That needs a lot of work. I guess I want to improve my overall game and continue to see my hard work practicing pay off on the course.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf - it would be awesome to meet some serious professionals and get advice and just see how they play and carry themselves on the course. A custom club fitting would be my first, but that is also on my list of things to do in 2017. I think my play would improve more if I were using correctly sized clubs, and given that Callaway is one of the premier club makers in the world I know the set I would leave with would be an incredible collection of clubs I could use for a long time.

Avg Score: 85

2017 Goals:

  • I have broken 80 a handful of times, but fully believe i can and should be there on a regular basis. Scoring avg goal: 82
  • Hit more greens through improved iron play and consistency
  • Convert more makeable par saves with improved short putting
  • Improved bunker play would be a bonus

Why:

  • I have tinkered with several different irons over the last year, but really need a fitting.
  • Have fallen in love with cally wedges and my XR driver - but would be a gamechanger to have confidence that my set us fully optimized for my game
  • Walk away feeling way more committed to my equipment to focus more on getting better through focused practice
  • To talk about Bernese Mountain Dogs with Harry Arnett

and take advantage of my length and become a better wedge player.

Why i would love to be a part of this: I have never been properly fitted for shafts and lofts. I have been fitted for lie and length. Being a part of this trip will take the guess work out of my equipment and will help me achieve my goal in 2017.

USGA Handicap: 12

Goals for 2017: To make it into the single digits. At the start of this year I was around a 15 and have worked my way down but have seem to have stalled out at 12. My average scores are now consistently in the 80s and I did manage to break 80 once this season but I would like to take that next step.

Why?: Because I would love to know what if feels like to be treated like a pro...even if just for a day.

Bonus: I live in Los Angeles and have always wanted to go to the Callaway offices in Carlsbad. Last time I took my kids to Legoland I tried, and failed, to convince them to come along with daddy for a quick family trip to Callaway.

  • Current USGA handicap: 10.7
  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017: I want that single digit handicap! I'm so close after starting off slow in 2016 and trending up. I've had a nice streak of golf at the end of summer and want to reach a single digit handicap. On a more specific level, I want to be a better driver of the golf ball and better ball striker with the long irons. These are ambitious goals, but I have to get better in those aspects of the game if I want to improve.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: Getting custom fit for fourteen clubs in sunny southern California sounds like a dream come true. Especially when the northeast will be cold and dark. I'm completely open to equipment that performs the best for me and would love to see the outcome such a detailed fitting process.

This event is coming at the perfect time for me.

I am a horrible golfer.

Horrendous, My current handicap is 29.1. And my usual score is over 100.

But most of my trouble comes from a couple of issues: 1) I have never committed to golf. I played 2-3 times a year, on an annual golf trip. And otherwise, I slacked. 2) I wrecked (WRXed?) a motorcycle breaking my collarbone which left me unable to swing a club for a number of years.

But two summers ago I had two significant changes in circumstance - for the first time in years I felt healthy enough to swing a club, and my then 6 year old son went to golf camp.

Seeing him progress, and begin to love the game, has sparked me.

Over the last two years, he and I have played a number of 9 hole "rounds" - and enjoying that time together has gotten me reinvigorated. I love the family time, love the game, and love the conversations it drives between us. Now at seven years of age, he and I have had significant opportunities to discuss golf, including rules and etiquette, and I have begun to see the practices learned in golf spill over to life: patience, determination, taking turns, etc.

My goals for the coming year is to play twenty five rounds, and to score under one hundred in twenty of them.

I haven't done that once in the last two years. So this will be a challenge.

This trip, and fitting, would give me a chance to get a rockstar set up out of the gate and put the goal pressure squarely on me and my dedication rather than on my gear.

And I'll be able to model better golf for my son!

That's my story but congratulations to anyone selected! What an opportunity.

Another smaller goal is to become a + handicap
  • Last year, I was properly fitted for the first time ever, and I realized being properly fitted was the best thing to ever happen to my game. I am a student of the game and I would love the opportunity to learn more about Callaway Golf, the fitting process and generally pick the brains of the experts on the Callaway Golf Team.

USGA index:

9.5

Goals:

After shooting personal best 79 this year twice, I'd like to get to 75 or lower next year.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

When I left the military in 2014, I was struggling with PTSD and related symptoms. I decided to pick back up the game (played growing up) by purchasing Callaway clubs. One of my big issues to get over was being out in public again; issues with people I didn't know and a very heightened startle reflex. But since I've gotten back onto the course, I'm starting to just learn to stay in the moment.

Even though Callaway doesn't know it, they have a customer for life, as I consider their equipment just as important as anything else in my path to find a new normal.

USGA index:

2.6 (Will be 2.4 tonight at 9pm)

Goals:

My handicap is coming down as of late, I'm happy about it but don't really have the "confidence" to take it lower... I'd LOVE to be a "Solid" 0.0 where I know I can shoot even par every round at ANY course I play. I know EVERY golfer wants MORE CONSISTENCY, and I'm no different. At 47 years old I'm hoping my best days are NOT behind me. So my goal for 2017 is to break 70 - 10 times and qualify for some USGA and local tournaments to test my game against the young talent that seems to be everywhere. It's been 15 years since I shot my 2 lowest rounds of my life (67) but I feel like I'm a better golfer and better player than I was back then.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

I would love to be professionally fit and make sure that my clubs are NOT the things holding me back in my goal to shoot under 70 multiple times this coming year.

Callaway is of course one of the best brands of club makers and I have many friends using every kind of club Callaway makes. I think a lower handicap player like me can benefit most from being fit by Callaway and be able to give them really good feedback since I'm a pretty consistent player and could really benefit from a professional fitting.

Who knows? Maybe in 3 years I can be good enough for the Senior Tour???? :-)

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
