  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017: My goals for next golf season are to continue working on my long game, from tee to fairway, particularly long irons. I also want to drop strokes by working on my chipping and pitching, so I can get up and down more often.

  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: Callaway was the first brand I was ever loyal to, but have since switched to Taylormade. I don't know if this switch continues to benefit my game, but I am ready to try a new brand, especially new driver and woods. I have also used Callaway wedges for over a decade now, and refuse to change bc I find them superior to everything else I have considered. I really want to see what new wedge offerings the company has for the coming year.

Thanks for the opportunity! I have attended a trip similar to this in the past, so I know what WRX expects of the members lucky enough to participate, and I believe I do a nice job of taking pictures, notes, and commemorating my experience while answering questions for the community. I would love to be included in this trip!

Current USGA handicap: 3.1

I have many goal for 2017:

  1. Become a better iron player. The closer you can hit it to the pin the better chance of making your putt. I want to be able to control my trajectory with my irons.
  2. Double my under par rounds. In 2016 I was able to break par 4 times.
  3. I want to make it to the state amateur championship. The last 4 years I have missed qualifying by a shot. I love tournament golf. It really shows where your game is at.

I am a passionate golf nut. All I think about is golf. I can’t wait to get done with work so I can work on my game. I am always trying to get better at this game. I love the process and journey of becoming a better player. My wife thinks I’m crazy! If I were selected for this, I would be so excited I’m not sure if I would be able to sleep.

State the goals for your golf game in 2017:

Become a better ball striker and iron player. Currently a very poor ball striker.

Achieve a USGA Handicap Index of 6.4 or lower to compete in State Amateur events.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

Golf fitting is as important as the clubs you play. If not fitted properly, will inhibit improvement and add to existing frustration.

I've never been fitted professionally before and would love this opportunity to be fit by a world class staff, facility, and company.

Hello, Thank you for reviewing my submission. It would be great to be part of this event if chosen...

  • Current USGA handicap - 10.0
  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 - My primary goal in 2017 is to get more consistent with my iron play and improve my short range putting. I'd like to minimize my missses with the irons and get closer to the hole. I would also like to be able to teach and spend more time with my 9 year old son on the course. He loves the game and is part of the First Tee of Seattle. It would be great to play with him more and teach him about course management and club selection.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf - Think this event would be great to understand equipment better and how the right or wrong choices can affect your game. Big fan of Callaway especially their 3-woods. My son is starting to grow out of his clubs and as we think about getting him a new set i would like to be more informed as well.

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 I would like to lower my handicap and consistently shoot low 90's and break 90 more often. I would also like to improve on my bad shots being more playable, and eliminate throw away strokes all together. (Fat and top shots)
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf This sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity, who wouldn't? But the main reason would be to get fit for an entire bag. I've always meant to do that but end up buying the prettiest, shiniest clubs off the rack. I need all the help I can get in my game, and what better place to start than clubs actually suited for me? Also since Nike is out of the business I find myself an equipment free agent. I can be had for cheap. If Callaway clubs are good enough for Brad Jordan (Scarface) they're good enough for me.

Handicap or Average score: No USGA Handicap, Average Score 80

Goals for my golf game in 2017: Score in the 70's 75% of my rounds, shoot par or better 10% of my rounds and break 70 at least once.

Why I want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: I have long been a "mostly" Callaway club user, but I have never been fit for any clubs by a professional. Everything I have heard and read is that it truly makes a huge difference in using clubs that are customized to your stature and swing. I am quite confident this once in a lifetime opportunity and truly epic event would be a tremendous help for me in reaching my goals in the game I love the most.

4.2 (hit a 1.6 this season)

State the goals for your golf game in 2017

To develop a game which is more consistent and holds up under pressure. I would like to graduate from tournaments at my local club to state events and maybe even one of the AM tours. My game currently doesn't hold up well to tournament golf as is evidence by the low handicap of 1.6 and a current of 4.2.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf

I have lived in remote locations which do not afford me the luxury of having club fittings available beyond traveling three hours to a retail store. Callaway is making some of the most highly regarded clubs currently on the market and I feel that a quality club fitting in combination with swing changes I have made to develop consistency could lead to the results I am searching for.

USGA Index:

+1.5

Goals:

Before this season, I set forth 6 goals including winning my first amateur event, scoring average, fitness goals, etc. I accomplished 4 of them, but I failed to make match play in my state amateur and failed to lower my scoring average below 74. Next year, I will accomplish these goals along with a few others: driving accuracy > 70%, top-10 at state mid-amateur, and qualify for my first USGA event. To do this, I will have to tighten up my misses; one or two "big misses" per round has kept me from all my goals. Particularly with driver, which has been a liability in the past. I have documented my journey, successes and failures on GolfWRX.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?

I want to make sure all of my equipment is the best for my swing and my game. I have been sporadically "fit" piece-meal over the years, but I'm sure it is the best for me. Confidence is a large part of this game, and I need to know that every club will perform best for me. For example, I don't even know if my irons have the right shafts or lengths/lies at this point. Finally, I haven't had much experience with Callaway's offerings since my Razr Hawk Tour head broke. I have heard nothing but good things about their recent offerings, and I want to see how they could help my game improve. As you can see from my bag below, I will play whatever helps me score the lowest.

I've never been to Carlsbad, but I hear it is essentially the golf capital of the world. With all of the world-class manufacturers and golf courses in such a small area, it would be a dream come true for a golf nut like me.

I'd like to bring my handicap down to the low single digits; I've been there before, but with clubs that I'm sure are not completly optimized for my swing and no access to fitting centers in my location it's hard to truly find the best combination of clubs for my game.

  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf

First and foremost, just to have access to a team of fitting specialist that know exactly what they are doing. Secondly, to have a clear picture of what my numbers are and how different clubs/combinations react to my swing. And finally, being a lefty I've always been a fan of Phil - previously playing a razr fit and razr mb's like he did in the past - so I think it would be awesome to practice/test clubs in the same facility he has.

Goals for 2017 -

To qualify for an USGA event. My HCP has steadily dropped from a 5.6 over the last few years. I've played several qualifiers over the last 2 years (Open, Am, Mid Am) knowing I had to have a career day to qualify, but it helped me get back in the rhythm of tournament golf, which is a whole different animal. Goal is to get to +2 by the end of '17.

Why Callaway -

I've always been an admirer of the Callaway brand, maybe even more so than the clubs themselves. They've been at the top and stayed at the top of a really tough market. They seem to do it less so with marketing and more so with performance. The fitting and the whole experience would be a once-in-a-lifetime deal for me regardless, but getting to see the inner workings behind one of golf's great brands would be an absolute thrill!

[*]I used to play golf often living in FL. I now live in NYC and my game is not what is used to be only getting out for 12 rounds a year. Being fit for a new set of sticks seems necessary at this point in my golf-life.

[*]I have a "kitchen workshop" where I set up my torch and vice. I take pride in it and often post on Instagram. I know how to build but the finer aspect - a trained professional should be entrusted with - are things I want expertly recommended to me. This would also be a learning experience.

Current Handicap: +2.5

Goals For 2016: Go deep into the state match play, qualify for my first national championship and most importantly tighten up my short game.

Why do I want to be fit by Callaway: I have been fit over the years for irons and drivers but I have never been fit for wedges or my fairway/hybrids. Not surprisingly these are the two weakest areas of my game. The confidence of knowing I have the proper equipment to execute a shot under pressure could be the difference in winning a match or qualifying for a national championship.

USGA index:

4.3

Goals:

Goals for me sit on a couple of different "levels". Furthest reaching goal, and what I'm ultimately aiming for, is to get back to the + side of the handicap measurement. I spent a number of years between +4 and +2 and I'd love to get back to level of golf. My current handicap is a bit deceiving since round count is quite low so I believe that if I continue to work hard, I can get back in the 0-2 range by early next season. I'd also like to participate in, and realistically compete, in higher level amateur golf events.

More short term goals to help me achieve the above handicap all center around consistency. I've been working very hard on eliminating wasteful motions in my golf swing which, I believe, will help me improve my misses and increase my overall consistency. Incremental improvements throughout the bag are a huge part of this as well. I no longer have a single area of my game that I feel is lacking but it's obvious that specific areas could each be improved a little bit to help with my overall goal.

A big part of improving my consistency centers around better equipment fitting, I'll address this more in the next section.

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

I admit that I have very lofty goals, especially when you take into consideration my streaky practice/playing schedule over the past few years due to family medical concerns (my youngest son has endured 6 open heart surgeries and 10-12 heart catherizations since 2011). The last full bag fitting that I went through was in late 2010, nearly 6 years ago! Since then I have made significant changes to my swing (much better takeaway and shallower AoA) and I've also lost some weight (80lbs). At this point, I don't believe that my equipment is a very good fit for me and there are some aspects of my game where I feel that I'm fighting the characteristics of my clubs.

I've been slowly tweaking various clubs here and there to help find something better for my overall game but, at this point, have not made any major changes since I put my current set of irons in my bag in late 2010. Due to the number of balls that I hit, I do swap out my wedges on an annual basis but my new wedges always match my previous ones from a specifications standpoint (shaft, grip, swing weight, loft). My woods have followed the same pattern, although the head/shaft isn't exactly what I was playing in 2010, the build combination is pretty close.

The appeal to getting fit at Callaway as opposed to a local fitter is multifaceted to say the least.

First and foremost it boils down to trust. There are a number of club fitters in my area that each have their own way of doing things, some I agree with, some that I do not. Most of these club fitters are fine for the average golfer but being the highly analytical type of person that I am, I have a hard time placing my trust in some of them to properly fit me for where I want to take my game. This has lead me down the path of uncertainty at the moment. I know, for a fact, that this would not a be a cause for concern in working directly with Callaway. The Callaway team one of the very best and I trust, without a doubt, that if anybody can do the job right, this group can.

Along the same lines as being able to trust your fitter, is having confidence in your equipment. Arguably one of the best fitters in my area has equipment biases that do not match my own. Unfortunately an equipment bias is a tough nut to crack. This is not a problem for me when it comes to Callaway. I've been playing a Callaway driver since I was 12 years-old. I can't even begin to guess how many newspapers I needed to deliver to save up for that 190cc Big Bertha driver that had just hit the shelves and, subsequently, revolutionized the driver landscape for good. I carried that driver for nearly 10 years before before replacing it with another Callaway. In fact, I don't believe that I've set foot on a golf course without a Callaway in my bag since the day I left the proshop as a bright-eyed 12 year-old with my new Big Bertha in hand. The realization of that fact surprised me, even though it probably shouldn't. The bottom line is that I have a great deal of confidence in the Callaway products.

Distance gapping and set composition are also a major concern of mine at the moment. The majority of fitters that I have experience with in my are are mainly concerned with selling a set of clubs and have predefined set compositions with specific lofts that they dub as universal. This approach does not work for me. I have a specific expectations when it comes to my distance gaps and I want a set of clubs that can help me achieve those expectations. I have no interest in hitting a 7-iron 225y and refuse to buy a set of irons simply because they are longer than what I'm hitting now. As previously mentioned, my set composition is based on a fitting that I did over 6 years, 80lbs, and several swing changes ago. I'm sure that it's time to readdress each and every club and have complete confidence that the fitters at Callaway can make this happen.

Finally, I'd like to thank GolfWRX and Callaway for this exceptional opportunity. :golfer:

    • I've never had an extensive fitting for clubs before. My most recent set of clubs (titleist & taylormade) I was fit by my pro. But we just hit different shafts based on the clubs I wanted to buy. We didn't compare other irons/drivers/woods/wedges or shaft combinations to see what the best fit for me is. I would really love to go through a true fitting where we find the best clubs for my swing and my game versus what I think I need.

2017 Goal: Get handicap down to a 2 and have more control of golf ball (spin, launch, distance, and trajectory)

Why I want to attend: I have not had a lesson or club fitting my entire golf career and think this opportunity will help me reach and exceed my 2017 goal. I still play the steelhead III 3 & 5 wood and cant find anything better. I have not played Callaway irons or drivers since the 2007 xforged and C4 so excited to see what the latest offerings are, in particular apex pro combos irons and xr pro woods. Plus also very interested in the new Toulon/Odyssey putter lineup.

I have always thought about changing to Callaway and would love the opportunity to see what their equipment, properly fitted would do for my game. If it does what I expect I will make sure everyone I know hears about it.

Winter is a bit of a depressing time in the Pacific NW. Getting fit in CA would be a really fantastic break from the otherwise oppressive 40 degree rain featured prominently in the Oregon winters. Furthermore I have always bought clubs that were on sale that worked well enough. It would be fantastic to finally have a bag where I didn't compromise here and there to save a few bucks. I am confident I would be more consistent and hit better shots if I had a whole bag of clubs truly fitted for me.

golf goals for 2017 - to coach my team, the William Woods University Owls to an NAIA national championship and individually play a competitive amateur summer schedule, including a title defense at the Indianapolis City Amateur, which I won this year. Now that my own college golfing career is over, I want to help others grow through the game, much like I have, while still maintaining a competitive amateur schedule and keeping my game sharp.

why I want to attend the Callaway event - I played Callaway clubs throughout my whole college career. I am currently playing the 2013 X forged irons and an XR Pro '16 4 wood. I love the Callaway brand and have always dreamed of meeting the guys from their corporate headquarters. I love their innovation in the club design industry and also their ability to provide clubs to golfers of all levels. I love the corporate identity that Callaway carries and would love to be apart of it with this exclusive weekend trip.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf

Current USGA handicap: 7.3

State the goals for your golf game in 2017:

My handicap has improved to the lowest it has ever been (7.3 and trending to 7.1)

My #1 goal is to not go above 9 ever again but to keep reaching milestones for me. Also, I need to become more consistent with irons/driver to reach those goals.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

After a dramatic weight loss, I had/am going through an overall haul my swing. Some for the better and some for the worse. My driver swing has become erratic and my iron swing has become more consistent than before. I was fitted during the middle of this and love my combo (Apex/Recoil) but I’m left wondering is there something better for my swing now.

The same can be said with the driver. I have tried different combos all year and I settled on my combo now (GBb/Speeder 661). Unfortunately, when its good it provides good shots but the misses are severe. Driving use to be the best part of my game and now it has became a weakness.

Beyond the selfish reasons (reacing my goals) of visiting and getting very knowledgeable people to give me a real assessment of my game/swing. I would love to see what makes Callaway #1 Irons in golf and one of the top 3 in the golf world. Its hard not to forget Callaway was on the verge of becoming what TM is right now but they have made a TREMENDOUS turn around!

Thanks for the opportunity to go to Callaway’s version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory….

Current USGA handicap: 20

I haven't really played past 4 years because of my job being at oversees. However, I recently moved back to states and started playing again. Of course I'm very struggling right now, often scoring 95+ so I do need some help. I just just to come back to my handicap (16).

My first golf club (one I bought) was Callaway X24. Although I do not own any Callaway products, but I'm willing to try out again. And I just want to see Callaway's golf center in Carlsbad!
