Mizuno JPX 900 drivers

I picked one up 2 weeks ago from used bin. It beat out my new ts driver... in fact, I returned it for credit on the 919 tour irons. Great driver IMO.

Just picked one up. Kicked my F7+ out of the bag which I struggled to find any consistency with. Straight to the range and no contest. Have the 569 shaft and love the lighter shaft. Put it down to 8.5 upright and both weights forward in the middle. Stills launching it great. Only wish the season wasn’t almost done here in Wisconsin.

 

what difference does the upright setting make?

no, it was here in North Alabama. I had never played this shaft before, but was pleasantly surprised. So much so, that I returned the TS2 I had ordered. LOL!

 

Loving the jpx 900. I recently hit the ST180 to see if I wanted to go ahead and make the jump to a newer model, but I prefer the sound of the 900 to the ST180. I have not hit the GT180.

I have that evo 2 in my 3wood...great shaft. Getting ready to try the evo 3 in.my driver.

 

Would like a favor if you don't mind and can get on a launch monitor....

 

Setup the driver with the weights in the center slot all the way back. Then put the weights in the face and draw slots.

 

Tell me what splitting the weights does for ball speed, launch, spin, and forgiveness compared to the weights back setting.

 

I played the 16 m2 3wood witb the weights split and it made that club super forgiving.

Went the route of M3 from its inception.....jpx900 was working fine but figured I might gain some yardage....throughout the spring and summer I did find an xtra gear occasionally but without lateral adjustability, I'm pretty much stuck with a fade shot. Grabbed another jpx900 stock 569 and in the 1st few shots ,I realized for my game the importance of seeing higher initial launch, more carry due to higher spin and much easier to keep in play using the whole fairway and not just playing a fade....

 

This club is very underrated!

 

And........ .we'll try a 3rd time! My 3rd jpx900 driver arriving Monday......can't get from under its spell....

Grabbed from post office this morning; jpx900, forgot a few things while playing.....driver likes to be teed down.....M3 std height....but once I found it, the level of performance is what I desire....the M3 is VERY solid! I'm limited by the fact it loves a baby fade....jpx900 for me is a tiny draw and carries further in less loft setting....I believe it spins a bit more but that's not always a bad thing...

12/13 fairways hit with driver....one 3i....only miss was a non-committal shot....maybe not as long as M3 overall but far more reliable and ability to shape on command

SERIOUSLY......I've had this 3 times ....and while it MIGHT not be the absolute LONGEST, it has the fun to hit,I'm reliable and maneuverable on command factor.

 

Quick story.....lefty golfer , 18th hole is par five that's a 30* dogleg left.....bunker on left, with water behind it and all up the left....trees and water right......normally I cut M3 but fear coming out of it so more of a steer job up the right....today into the wind and out the right....jpx900 allows me to aim at the left bunker and draw it back into play....exactly what happened! M3 or pretty much any other square faced driver doesn't allow this....maybe the adjustable head ; maybe the speeder evolution II shaft....what I do know, THIS DRIVER JUST WORKS me....

Anybody else still have this in the bag? I'm still really enjoying mine but have to admit, the reviews of the ST190 and Cally Epic Flash SZ have my eye wandering just a bit.

Man I missed this thread. Funny story when speaking with my custom club builder and friend, he happened to have a new JPX900 head mint in his storage. Anyway since the launch of the JPX900 real deal Speeder Evo2, I have had ST180, back to JPX900, then ST190, M4, SIM Max, SIM Max D (current gamer with a Fuji Speeder TR661S) and still

missed the dialed in feeling of my ole JPX900. Something about life with a square face no twist face or low wave channels when life was simple with a adjustable sleeve, sole plate, and movable weights I miss. 

 

So he is building it up for me with an Accra FX2.0 160M4 to 44.5” for my back up bag. You know I will be giving them a head to head at the range with a large bucket. Excited.

Same here, plus JPX850 5W, also a great sleeper club. 
Have my eyes on the Tour Edge EXS-220, but it’s not urgent.

Which loft and weight settings is everybody using and did anyone remove the silver slider that affects how open or closed at address the clubhead sits?

I left the slider on the closed setting, would like to remove it but like the weighting, and have both weights all the way forward (towards clubface) in the middle track. 
I believe this makes it as low spin as it gets, but also pretty unforgiving.

Loft is at 10.5*, experimented with 8.5* but it’s better now- for me. 
Curious how you guys set it up!

A nice low spin setting and most forgiving is splitting the weights to the heal and toe spots.  Also for higher MOI and a little more spin go in the furthest back setting center track.  I always set mine in the 2-3 center track next to the adjustable sole plate setting in neutral....to keep all the weight centralized for balance.  If you sole the club use the ASP to your advantage, if you hover, it really doesn't matter except for adding a bit of weight where you want it.

The JPX900 is back in the bag...Sim Max is out.  New shaft is money and I think I am done with TM, mainly due to twist face...just never set up right after a season of trying to make it work. Feeling good

Glad it's working out.......I found an Accra shaft myself for the 10.5 SIM head and just exploding with confidence.....

Thanks! Accra shafts are amazing like many brands when fitted right. The nice thing I like about Accra is no matter what you need they have a class leading offering for any swing

Found Ltd white dymatch 2.0....... 52g , RT series that is smooth , loadable but stable ! 

Not sexy but man does this shaft make SIM come alive......an actual controlled baby draw vs definitive fade bias

Funny thing, didn't work with M5 but has been AMAZING combo with SIM.....I believe that the SIM has less twistface effect than previous models.....the SIM is kinda like a combo of SLDR with 16 M2
