What golf brands mix well and which don't? (Opinion)

I've always had Titleist or TM woods paired with Mizuno irons, and Titleist wedges, and it worked well. Recently swapped to Srixon irons and it's working well also.

What irons did you switch to?

I use Srixon z745 3 thru 6 iron, and z945 7 iron thru PW.

Single malt and ice works

Ping irons and Vokey wedges

Lately TM and Cally woods fit in nicely

Ugh....no. I won't insult my Lagavulin, Laphroaig, or Ardbeg with ice...

I felt similar but my darn cousins insist on drinking scotch in the high summer —for some reason I cannot instill in them a love for gin— and a couple of rocks smooths out several glassfuls of the Islay' wonders whilst enjoying a night of cards!

In all reality there is no right/wrong answer BUT that's not going to stop me from giving the correct answer :-)

- TM woods seem to be the shizzle dizzle right now. Hopefully they can keep this fire hot because we all saw what happened after the 07 Burner TP.

- Hybrids are tricky because I would swear up and down by the older Adams hybrids (pre TM). They had that market for a long long time and I am unsure of how they are now.

- I'm extremely partial to Mizuno irons, so they obviously take up that slot with ease. Everyone should play them and those that say "meh" to them are heathens and should be exiled from golf.

- Wedges are a toss up between the simplicity of Cleveland and the absolute greatness of Vokey. If those two combined their ultimate powers you would almost be guaranteed to hole every pitch and chip shot.

- As far as putters are concerned, I have seen guys shoot par or better with Zebra putters and have seen too many guys with SC putters shoot scores none of us would post. Of all the things in your bag, this is by far the most subjective and personal.

I just play what works for me and don't worry about who the company is.

This

This, again!

I think the topic is trying to discuss this exactly point.... I own mostly Ping club from iron to driver (Taylormade 3 wood is out of the bag, have not updated sig. I tried to make it work cuz it was a Christmas gift but just can't), but when I try Taylormade clubs, especially driver, I can't seem to make good contact. However, when I try Titleist irons they fit surprisingly good. I think there are characteristic of each brand's club that result in some being really good for some people but others not so much, but are consistent throughout the line. I don't think this topic is talking about look, the branding, or perception of certain mix of club (like blade mix with hybrid etc etc), but to talk about the similarity of the brand, almost like if you like Taylormade driver, you will mostly like Callaway driver, because XXXX.

Any brands mix as long as you're fitted for each club.

I would say all brands work fine together as long as they fit your game and what you want for each club. If you added a "properly" before "fitted" I could agree with you. Too many players walk into the big box store and say something like " I want the new Ping driver-fit me". And take a couple swings and are given a regular or stiff shaft and sent happily on their way.

The other thing to remember is swings change along with our bodies. What fit you last year may not be best this year. Sounds like an excuse to ho but things do change. You might be more or less flexible, stronger or weaker, have made a slight change with an instructor.......

Remind me of the Tiger putter thread. Everyone seems to think a putter used 10 years ago will ask of a sudden fix what perhaps was not even broken.

Mizuno forged irons, Tilteist woods, hybrids. Also TM drivers.

He kinda only uses one brand of wedges, mostly.

But Mizuno and Titleist often make elegant clubs that seem to meld well.

It's all preference, of course. And being victimized by marketing efforts is of course, out there.

He is a victim.
