All this speculation on the Epic can't do much for the sale of the Fusion which has only been out for about 3 months.

Optiforce all over again. It sounds like there's a case to make that the Fusion would still be the better fit for many players, but not many have the willpower to ignore distance gains (if there actually is any).

Heads are up on the USGA website now. GBB Epic, GBB Epic Subzero and GBB Epic Star. Guessing the Star version is a tour head?

Looks like the Star head is a glued hosel.

Tigers new driver?

That makes a lot of sense. He prefers a glued hosel but still needs the sliding weight track to correct a big block.

All this speculation on the Epic can't do much for the sale of the Fusion which has only been out for about 3 months.

I watched the video before they deleted it, some of the comparisons were to their own XR line, so I'm speculating that the XR line will go bye-bye. Leaving only the Fusion and GBB Epic lines. Most forgiving (Fusion) to least forgiving (Subzero). No more all titanium drivers (?).

XR line is the mid line of drivers, it will stay but not be revised until late next year I believe. GBB is premium line and Fusion is the most forgiving line with mainly slower swingers in mind, that being said the Fusion is a great lowish spin driver, especially in the 9*, and will benefit many golfers, it replaces the Big Bertha V series drivers and fairways.

LOL...........the video was entertaining at best.........pure propaganda regarding performance.

For example; 2mph faster ball speed than M2.............based on what? What club speed, what contact location(s), based on one shot or an average over how many, build specs on the two drivers were what, CT of the EPIC head at 257 and the M2 at 238, etc.....?? I'd for one like to see Callaway disclose the test conditions and collected shot data.......probably won't happen as I've not seen an OEM support their performance claims.

I'm guessing the sample heads being provided to sales reps have been hand picked for high CT values and to match published specifications when available..........most likely assembled perfectly in Carlsbad.

This head does have my interest unlike the Wilson Triton. I'll look forward to hitting the Epic against my M2.

Well, Callaway did hire a couple of former TM higher-ups, right?

couldn't have put it any better than this.

and yes @SwingMan we can all agree 4 years later that 17 yards* was data manipulation. it was true - but in comparison to what?

this head really has my interest. the reports i have heard first hand is that even the SZ head is forgiving - direct comparison was to the M2 (unlike the XR SZ).

Why would someone at YouTube get fired?

dude, its a joke. last time someone released a pic of the head, THEY ala Callaway/DSG traced him (which wasn't hard since he posted it with his name) and had him fired. I am sure this SEQUENCE video was not intended to be digested on this side of the Pacific so THEY probably had the guy remove that vid and fire him too...

Thats the thing, the bad vibe /DAMPNER on what is otherwise pretty exciting news from Callaway is: firing - don't you dare release any epic news on the EPIC driver. No pics, nada....

ps that SEQUENCE video was super informative as well, really nice driver (SZ & GBB) & technology, explantion AND comparison. imho

Kind of an on-going joke now............I'm sure the CEO of Callaway called Zuckerberg and he immediately had it removed it from the YouTube servers. :smilie_cally:

Marketing is definitely working on me. Can't wait to see if Jailbreak is for real. First time I can think of that an OEM is actually saying more ball speed vs saying more yards. Even if it's just 1mph, more is obviously better. Until then, Jailbreak has put a dark cloud over my Surefit CG and I've pulled out my trusty old RAZR Hawk Tour to reminisce. Damn the RHT was a great club.

Isn't Jailbreak essentially the opposite of Speed Pocket, Active Recoil Channel, Compression Channel, etc.

Nope, nope .. from what I understand and saw, speed pocket technology allows the face to compress more easily while jail break technology prevents face elongation (from top to bottom) during compression thus resulting in greater compression from the back of the club to the face.

Unless I'm mistaken, I recall from the deleted video that the face of the Epic driver was thinner than the XR16 driver.

Someone said it was like a trampoline with steel frame as versus pvc pipes to return more energy, might be wrong but I thought I read it somewhere. Now - guessing- ...Jailbreak 2 will include side as well, or an X configuration :)
