Connecticut golf

Hey everyone. I'm trying to plan a golf day trip to Connecticut on the 14th. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on public courses that are fun, fairly open yet a bit challenging. Any ideas really would be great. I'm driving from Maine.

Keney Park in Hartford is absolutely amazing after the recent renovation!

Lake of Isles at foxwoods is awesome, I thought I posted but it's gone

Connecticut National in Putnam. Exactly what you asked for, pretty wide open but still some interesting and challenging holes. Bargain price, too.

Richter Park in Danbury is a gem. Starting today, the only tee times are 10 am Shotguns through the end of the season. I think it's $48 w/cart on weekdays and $57 on weekends.

I'm late to the party but here's my 2 cents as a 7 year resident of CT in a previous life.

 

Shennecosset in Groton

CT National in Putnam

Norwich Golf Course in Norwich

Lake of Isles (whichever the public course is, the private is nice too played it a few times)

Fox Hopyard

Mohegan Sun Golf Course (no where near the casino, but a neat track)

+100. CT National may be the best public in NE. Great layout and superb greens.

The hopyard is a gorgeous track and feels upscale from the minute you step onto the property. It is a high recommendation from me that you try to check it out..

On that same token I've been itching to try Connecticut National because from what everybody says it's a super nice place. I am really hoping to be able to try it out this year

Imho,

Great River is every bit as good as Fox Hopyard, but is more penal for errant shots
