Replacement for the ie1 is much better IMHO...got to hit it and it was very solid and had a great look and feel to it. Rep's have them undercover for now and are just showing accounts. Improves on the ie1 so much that they aren't really that similar!! just sayin

I never understood why manufactures are so dead set against pics coming out......What's the big deal.....I know people will say that they like to have a big press release etc. but i would think if you had a good product, a few leaked pics would be a good thing.....Example....what do you think is more talked about and hyped, the new ping irons that no one can see, or the cally epic with leaked pics?

I think part of it may be timing. Half the country won't be playing golf for 4-5 months starting right about now. If you release the pics in Feb, pre-order in March when guys are getting antsy to get out/buy new equipment you're probably going to sell more clubs right off the bat vs. releasing pics now, letting the news and hype get stale and then releasing them later.

Just a thought. Based on absolutely 0 facts or evidence.

The new iron is much better looking than the i e but doesn't feel as good. Hopefully they improve on the feel and performance before they are released. The rep didn't know whether they would be released on the same date as the glide 2.0 wedges which he said was the middle of January 2017. Usually when ping shows a single iron it is pretty much ready to go, but I hope they improve the performance.

Anyone hit them that can compare them to the jpx 900 forged and srixon z65 irons?

That is the comparison I'm looking for as well. Liked the original iE1's but the finish was pretty darn rough after limited play.

I loved the performance and feel with the modus 105 but didn't like the look so I didn't buy them. And I almost holed a 7 iron out. Missed by a few inches. If they look good better I will buy them.

Guys, you will get an I-style iron and a G-style iron. How much difference or improvement do you really think is going to be there?

Personal Opinion---

More forgiving I Blade feel with ie forgiveness. Not as soft to me as 565 or the JPX 900 Forged, but very solid and softish feel. Seems like they improved on the IE IMHO. I like it better than the IE, wasn't that impressed with it except for the softer feel over the stock 17-4 SG and SGI Ping offerings.

This one gets closer to the I-series (20/25), but I feel it is more forgiving overall.

In order of most to least... 565, Ping , and Mizuno. BUT not like any are really unforgiving in their own way...sooo....

I think that from their perspective it's a matter of supporting Ping's retailers who are still trying to move the current one.

Now you can make the argument that people looking at clubs may go elsewhere when they'd have held off for the new Ping if they knew that was coming, which has its merits too. Marketing is part science, part guess.

I think that while Ping knows they can't control everything, they are making their best effort to control what they can.

Seems like a lot of work, considering anyone with any sense knows that clubs bought on line from china for 1/3 the price of retail are fake and will not perform the same as legit.
