San Jose area visit.

Looking to play a round or two while I'm in town. I'll be staying in Milpitas. I'm wondering how hard it is to get a tee time, what the course conditions are like, and what might be recommended. I fly in about 8:30am on a Thursday and after considering delays, deplaning, getting a rental car my plan is to head straight to the course for a 10-12 tee time.

 

I'm considering Cinnabar, Summitpointe, Calippe Preserve.

 

Cinnabar would be my first choice but not 100% sure I'd make it in time. I'd probably save that for a Saturday morning if not too difficult to get a time set. Are there other courses I should consider? I'm not opposed to driving but time wise and with all the potential delays Involved with air travel I'd prefer to set a time as I step off the plane.

I plan on using that. More important to me is what the course conditions look like and if those are decent tracks to play. Even Golfnow won't work if all the tee times are filled.

I didn't know about that site thanks for sharing. that's pretty nice to know about aeration and such. I bookmarked it.

 

I guess it's not really what I was looking for though. I don't know what they weather's been like down there so I'm wondering if the fairways are soggy or reasonably firm. PNW golf now is pretty much mud ball. if you've never played in these conditions picture this: you hit a ball at the edge of the rough and the edge of a water hazard. you step in to address the ball and you actually sink down. you hit the ball and there's splashes of MUD flying. your divot isn't a nice strip. it flies apart as it goes because it's so wet that it just disintegrates. That's what it's like from the FAIRWAY. I'd imagine it's quite a bit drier down in San Jose.

Thanks again for the tips. Played callippe and it was fantastic. Couldn't get out to the other courses but I will have to try them. Great layout and firm fairways for the time of year. Impressed.
