Prince Andrew had lessons from a guy called Doug McClelland.

Doug gets home one day and his wife says the pub rang. Weird, but Doug gives his local a call. They don't know what he's talking about. He sometimes goes to a different one round the corner so gives them a call, but same thing.

Asks his wife which pub called and she says, "The Duke of York".

Okay. Pubs are sometimes called stuff like The King's Arms, The Queen's Head, The Prince of Wales or The Duke of York.

The guy he was teaching was The Duke of York. When the guy's wife asked who was calling, and Prince Andrew said The Duke of York (as opposed to Andrew Windsor or Prince Andrew), she assumed it was the pub.

Prince Charles and Camilla came and visited Bridlington,they lunched at a well known local fish and chip shop and the owner couldn't help asking HRH about the fur hat he was wearing on a blazing hot summer day.

Charles explained that when he told his mum about the visit she replied;

"Wear the fox hat".

Prince Charles attending a formal dinner declined the desserts on offer explaining that he was keen to go home and get stuck into the mousse.

And now for a true story that happened on Wednesday while playing a stableford competition.

I was telling my playing partners about the catering at local golf clubs and extolling the virtues of Flamborough golf club and the fantastic breakfast (full English) and excellent fish and chips,going into some detail about the batter on the fish which is always crispy and really beautiful cod fillets.

My chum who is Spanish and who has been resident in the UK for many years(but think;Manuel,Fawlty Towers) chimed in with;

'They only last one hour'.

'Sorry,what did you say?'.

'They only last one hour'.

'Err,what do you mean?'

'The fishing trips'.

'The what?'

'The fishing trips from Flamborough,they only last one hour'.
