#TheWRX: The EPIC Event at Callaway Golf. 8 Members are treated to TheWRX

Recommended Posts

I exchanged emails with Seamus golf. In order to get the head covers with the GolfWRX logo on them, the order would have to come from GolfWRX. I asked for a cost, but she didn't give me one. Looking on their website they are about $65 without a logo...a bit pricey for me.

Pm one of the owners... I betcha they would work out something for one of the OG members.

Especially being part of the callaway trip.

I don't feel very comfortable doing that Tex, as I am not very good at asking for anything! And, I don't want to step on the toes of GolfWRX. :-)

I don't think it asking for free stuff. Just permission to use the logo and who knows what they say.

I'm not either but a little jelly of people who can.

I know Rob checks in from time to time, perhaps he will chime in?

Sean they do!

I had a set when they were released the first time.

I was bummed by how easy the finish wore off. Hopefully, they learned something and add another step or two on the finish.

That is my concern with an all black finish...how quickly would that finish wear off?

Well.. my first shot out of a bunker left a ball mark on my 8 iron. Bad shot off the toe but left an ugly mark.

7 iron finish got worn down pretty quick hitting on a grass range. Eventually, it start spreading out like the wedges but it definitely wore off quicker than the wedges.

I was very disappointed but I got over it because I don't stare at the face. I got rid of them because the SH pros are so easy to hit and actually brought up my spin rate which the apex didn't.

I almost sand blasted just the face kind of like the sh pros but I sold them to buy the pros.

I usually get to the course around dawn, and go to the pitching range to work on my short game. I am the only one there. It's very quiet and peaceful. I set the pins at 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 yards. I work on chipping first, from a variety of lies...very thick rough, tight lies, flop shots with no green to work with, bunker shots, then I proceed to the 40, 50, etc., using different wedges to gage how far I hit each one with quarter, half, three-quarter, and full swings. I can go all the way back to 150 yards (though I am not really supposed to do that), but there is no one else around so it is safe.

I usually spend a couple of hours doing this, along with some putting, before I head to the range, and then out to the course.

By the way, did any of you fellows pick up a souvenir? I did. I overpaid for a Torrey Pines polo. lol

I have a display at my work with a logo ball from (almost) every course I've played, so I got one of those and a Yeti Tumbler.

That display has to be getting pretty large Matt!

Sean,

Where do you play? Maybe I could come join you for a round one of these days. Been a while since I got down that way. There were always 3 or 4 courses in MA I tried to play every year but could use an excuse these days.

That would be great! I play at the Harmon Golf and Fitness club, but I would be open to any course you would like to play. Harmon is a nine hole course, but it is littered with hazards. From the tips it plays 6003 yards with a slope of 127. I usually play the middle tees, which at 5476 has a slope of 124. Once in a blue moon (not enough!) I get together with driverwedge up in NH. Maybe you could join us if we play? He's a great guy. :-)

I didn't pick up anything there since we got the ball marker and the divot tool. That was enough for me, and I use them most rounds pretty much. The ball marker we got is really cool and a lot of people ask me about it. My wood and hybrid headcovers that i use are from Whistling Straights. I try to have something i can use and that will last from most of the major courses i've been to. I have markers , divot tools and putter covers from a few top 100 courses in Canada too.

I'm trying to book a trip here soon. It's a pretty remote area on our east coast, but it's a new resort that literally just got ranked the #1 and #2 course in Canada.

https://www.cabotlinks.com/golf/cabot-cliffs/

I mean think about that, it's a fairly new resort that just swept the top 2 spots in our rankings

I gotta get out there

Yes that would be great. There is another member on here (BenBerube) that's local and we've been meaning to get together as well. Would make a great WRX foursome. We've got some pretty good courses up here too. Where do you usually play? PM me if it's easier so we don't jack the thread.

I just played in a charity vegas this past monday too, speaking of good rounds Sean. It's a fundraiser for the missing children's network that a good friend of mine's company sponsors. We shot a 60 (-12) on a reasonably tough course. I had a natural eagle on one of the par 5's, and hit two other par 5's in two off my own ball.

I said in a thread recently that the XR Pro is my favorite club and man was that solidified

Pin flag and and visor. Couple hats for the kids.

I have flags at a lot of the bigger courses I've played at and one I might have swiped from the course I grew up at hanging on my office wall.

I had played Torrey a few times before so I didnt get myself anything, but I did pick up a shirt for my dad.

I lost my GolfWRX poker chip last weekend..... I went back and looked for it for an unreasonable amount of time when i realized it was gone. No luck though, I'm pretty bummed about it.

Sorry to hear that!

That was nice of you to pick up a polo for your father. I hope you and he get to play some golf together from time to time. :-)
