Tigers Irons?

Recommended Posts

you could build an entire website for this topic....www.thingsthatdontreallymatter.com.

if they AREN'T Nikes, you cant get them. If they ARE Nikes, you still can't get them get them. And even if you COULD get them, they aren't going to fit you. So pretty much unless im on Jeopardy and the question is asked, it doesn't matter in my opinion.

Exactly! I can't stand this topic and I'm mad at myself for even getting sucked into it and entertaining it.

We should dump this topic along with forged vs. cast, blades vs. game improvement, and walking vs. riding in their too and let everyone just have at it. It would be like a golf Royal Rumble!

The fact is no american club company makes their own irons!!!!!!! Get over it!!! The best forgery is in Taiwan by the way!!!!!!

Ping does :rolleyes:

Their clubs are cast overseas as well!!! American made golf clubs would cost too much!! An iron set would cost $2,500 at the least because of unions!!! Ping was the last company to move their club production overseas!!!!!

Mr. Woods irons are 100% Nike. Only ten sets exsist in one calander year...

==========

I have a set of these in my basement, honestly, & I'll Sell'em to ya real cheap- say $10K.!!

====

I have asked this on these type Topics No Answer from anybody:

Are Cavity Back Irons that say Forged, like say from Miz. or Nike, are they truly forged the same way or

as I have heard these type irons are almost Cast -metal is heated up so much, the "grain", the softness , and thus feel is different ???

===

Tiger would beat'em playin with only a hooded 7 iron !

Especially with the newest VR blades which Tiger basically designed to his liking, I find it highly unlikely Nike doesn't have the materials, technology, and resources to custom hand-make Tiger a set of irons themselves. Perhaps in the past things were different with Titleist and Nike, but presently I truly believe Nike can and does make his irons from scratch. If anything, Nike just went out and hired the guy who's been making his clubs in the past at Miura or Mizuno or wherever, and made him part of Nike Golf for a pretty penny.

Not correct.  The woods may be made overseas but the irons are cast here in the US and assembled in china.

Only the G10s and i10s and i-Wedge and some putters are made in the U.S. All the others are made in China (Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids, Rapture Irons, S57s, Tour Wedges, all redwood putters with black chrome finishes). They are however moving the bag manufacturing back to the U.S. from Mexico.

As far as Miura the record is straight forward directly from his own site:

1 U.S. Open Championship

2 Masters (Olazabal, Floyd)

1 Senior PGA Championship

25 Japanese Tour Wins

(Simple math 3 major championships not 14)

That is all. The rest is all urban legend that continues to be promoted by Miura club owners that want some mystical tag associated with their overpriced purchase. I always found it interesting that the exact model with Miura's stamp on it always cost more than the OEMs model he supplied. Best example was the MacGregor PCB Tours. I doubt he cheapened his process for the OEMs..HMMMMM

Also helped somewhat by a confidentiality statement on that site as well.

Personally my old co-owned raw material company supplied the metal that has gone into 35 major winners irons. Confidentiality prevents me from identifying those winners. Can't prove it and can't disprove it. Anyone can make a statement like that and leave the rest to the 12-19 year old mind set (real or actual).

Not entirely correct either. The majority of Pings clubheads are cast at Dolphin Precision Investment Castings, in Phoenix, then trucked 14 blocks or so to the factory on W. Desert Cove. they are assembled there. Certain heads are sourced offshore, due to environmental reasons. (tour wedges, Rapture irons, anything with a non stainless finish) Titanium woods are offshore also, thats probably a cost/ production quantity issue. Although I found this article interesting:http: //www.allbusiness.com/manufacturing/primary-metal-mfg-foundries/10551242-1.html. Especially the part about protecting their intellectual property. With the rise of offshore production from the OEMs, the rise in counterfeiting has gotten out of control too.

As for the Nike thing...Who cares! Very few tour players use irons available @ retail. Why should Nike be any different.

I am friends with a nike staff player. He has had a few sets of clubs made for him all by Tom Stites. He said he makes personal sets for all the staff players just done to there personal tastes. His current irons are marked up like VR blades however are smaller more rounded and have a thinner top line.

None of them are playng off the shelf. (cool)
