That like saying you shouldn’t build a shed in your back yard because Home Depot sells sheds. Don’t counterfeit their sheds.

If I wanted to I could had bought official swing sticks.....I'd know if they go wrong I could seek warranty etc.

Also, I'm very unclear on who is liable if the use of such a device in public was to go disastrously wrong and the head to fall off, I'm thinking Gyms/ranges.

However, I'm cautious where I'm swinging my bit of stainless steel on a golf shaft......and saving up for the next gadget :)

;)Of course, part of the expense of owning a business is liability insurance. I am a DIY kind of guy for a lot of things, but to me in the grand scope of golf equipment $200 seemed like a pretty small price to pay for 3 practice clubs. We all have different amounts of discretionary income, to each his own. :)

Okay update, middle stick only protocol (disclaimer could also be because of my lesson), I am swinging consistently 108-110 mph hitting an actual ball. Note when I started this in October I was around 98 mph.

I am getting fit for a new driver on the 24th as my current combo spins too much for my new swing, but even then my carry has been greatly increased despite losing some distance in terms of potential carry and roll.

9-iron is now my 150 club, so pretty excited about that.

I’m sure this has already been addressed, but I had trouble find it.

For the “blue stick only“ protocol are you doing the entire protocol and just using the blue stick instead of the green and red (meaning the total number of swings/reps is the same)? Or are you skipping the green and red swings, and only swinging the blue stick 3-5 times per side per session?

Thanks.

Upping the reps to 5 and only doing blue and skipping everything else entirely.

Also taking breaks per set.

It sounds like you might be where I was; lots of work with all three sticks and the full protocol, with very little to show for it after many months and a LOT of work.

Fast forward to last August when I started a serious revamp of my swing with a top-shelf teaching pro, who in turn urged me to go to a golf fitness training facility to have my mobility checked out. I did that, and in the testing, I was shown that I was already swinging as fast as my body would allow, given the mobility that I lacked in my hips. (Plenty of flexibility, plenty of strength, but poor mobility.) One of the three workouts they've devised for me includes the blue stick (only that one), and only 3 sets of 5 swings, with other stuff in between the sets. Lots of daily myofascial release work, and lots of medicine ball work in all three workouts.

I'm early in the process of both the swing revamp AND even moreso the workouts, but the difference in swing speed is already more than I got out of the full SS protocol after 6 months. I won't get into all the research from golf and other sports about weights and reps, but if you are stuck you might consider getting some functional mobility testing done AND using only the blue stick with a LOT less reps.

If it helps, I think this is the article that others in this forum are referring to for the single stick protocols: par4success.com/articles/are-you-using-overspeed-correctly.

When I saw that article, I was using the Level 4 Superspeed protocol. Each session, with warm-up, was taking over 20 minutes and I saw big drops in speed for each exercise as I went from green to red. For instance, I would be swinging the green around 130-135 and then could barely get the red above 112. I think a big part of that was fatigue from not taking breaks between swings.

I've been doing the blue stick only for about two months now and it feels more purposeful. I've stopped the kneeling swings for now, and doing standing, double step, and happy gilmore.

Sorry, I didn't do a very good job of that. The "speed" workout is one of three workouts that I've been given, each to be done once a week. In that workout, there are four exercises; one is a side to side "skater jump" exercise, then two are with a medicine ball, and the fourth is the blue stick, five swings non-dominant, five swings dominant. The first three are as many reps as possible in 15 seconds, the swings are NOT timed but are just supposed to be as fast as I can swing the club with no regard for technique. The workout is three sets of those four exercises, so that would be a total of 30 swings, counting non-dominant.

Two other important notes: I'm doing a TON of mobility work in the other two workouts to allow my body to swing faster, and the workouts will be altered as time goes on and things change, so I don't think my use of the stick will always be the same as it is now; it's very possible the number of swings will go up, at least marginally as my mobility improves. But I can 100% guarantee you that I will NEVER be swinging the red stick, and that I will NEVER be taking 100+ swings a 2-3 times a week like the SS protocol calls for; he has made THAT clear. Between the research results and the added possibility of injury, there just isn't any reason.

I would recommend getting a gripper than you can close for 8ish reps and do sets of 3 on each hand once an hour or once every couple hours. As opposed to continually struggling with 1 rep on your max gripper.

That sounds good, i am currently alternating between the T and the 1.0 and closing up to 15X, the 1.5 is a struggle to close once and I'm not even close with the 2.0

My grip is extremely weak but it actually gets stronger as i warm up. If i picked up a 1.0 and tried to close it without any warmup, its almost impossible, even struggle with the T grip without warmup. But after doing a couple sets of 15 with the S, i can slowly start advancing. Im aiming to close the 2.0 5X by June.

I'm new to the whole SS training thing and have been eyeing all the protocols. Would you say it would be wise to go through SS's set protocols in it's entirety first and then settle into the blue stick only protocol, or do you think it's possible to get the same or more gains by going straight to the blue stick only? Thanks.

I just saw better gains using less time and less risk of injury. My bad day is 240 carry now. When I started my best day was 220 carry. I have basically gone up 2-club distances even with my smoothies with irons.

I think I have a bad driver fit because I can squeak out at least one 280 drive a round, but since I changed my swing I am steeper and creating a bit too much spin with it. I tried an LST vs. my 410+ and the LST is longer, but I can somehow hit below 1000 rpm with it using the same shaft as my gamer (Tensei Orange).

Last practice session at PGASS I was between 108-112 hitting balls, but max carry was 250. From what I’ve seen those carry numbers are off by at least 20 yards.

Fitting on the 24th.
