Ball For 2017?

I've narrowed down my ball choice for 2017 between Srixon Z Star XV and Bridgestone B330. Is BStone coming out with a new ball this year? I know Srixon did, but I can't remember if Bridgestone is or not. Either way the current B330 is a heck of a ball. Which would you all go with and why? I'm obviously going to test the 2 balls against each other in real conditions but I'm just curious as to what you all think.

I believe Bridgestone will have a new ball. The Z stars sounds promising, plus they will be $39.99! I think you should also give the TP5's a shot!

I switch back and forth between these two balls quite frequently because sometimes rock bottom golf will have the XV's for stupid cheap.

 

I prefer the 330, but not by a huge margin. They are both seriously long off the tee - no real difference. They both spin fine for approach shots. I have found the XV spins less around the greens by a significant amount. This might be my personal swing / feel / whatever, but if you like to use spin around the green to stop the ball the XV is a tough cookie (its not impossible, but you have to really hit it to get it spinning). I've found the 330 will check up a lot more naturally around the greens, which might be a good or bad thing depending on your game.

 

All that said, we are talking tiny, tiny differences. They are both great balls. If you like to run out chips and pitches I'd play the XV. If you like to fly to the pin and stop I'd play the 330. Other than that, I found them to be basically identical.

 

I probably play more rounds with yellow XV's than any other ball, but only because they are constantly on special.

 

Note I've never hit the 330S, only the B330 with Snedeker on the box.

 

Gun to my head, in competition, I game the 330. But both are really good balls. I found no difference off the putter, driver or irons, and just a bit of a difference around the greens.

Bridgestone may be coming out with a new ball in 2017, like the e6, but no new B330 this year. I believe those are on two-year cycles.

 

It doesn't look like it's on your radar, but don't sleep on the new FG Tour from Wilson Staff. An outstanding ball that will hit the sweet spot (npi) for many players.

Pro V1X or some kind of Srixon. I already have dozens of 1X's but I hit some Srixons last year and I really liked them.

Bridgestone 330 or chrome soft, I started playing chrome soft at the very end of the season and liked it but that was only a few rounds. Also bought Bridgestone when they were buy 2 dozen get one free.

I like pro vs but they seem to scratch up easily

I HATED the Chrome Soft. It was like hitting a marshmallow. That is fine around the greens and putting, but I hated hitting it off the tee. I prefer a slightly firmer feel like the Pro V1x. I would play the V1x again this year but I just want to look down at something new this year.

I have two dozen Prov1Xs I'm going to start out the year with but may make a change after that. I love the feel and performance of the xs but the covers get damaged so easily and at 48 dollars a dozen that's a little tough to keep up with all summer long. I'm thinking about trying chrome soft when I run out.
