At $29.87/dozen at GT in Ontario you can't beat the value of the Srixon Z-Stars. I have a few dozen ready to go when the snow melts.

Bridgestone B330RXS and Callaway ChromeSoft.

Found a ChromeSoft this weekend and played the last few holes with it. Really enjoyed it.

Also, I play a lot of TaylorMade Tour Preferred balls as I have gotten two dozen for free.

I might look at cheaper alternatives to the above because I got some new Vokey wedges and they seem to just eat balls alive during a round.

I am feeling super confused about what direction to go with the ball for this season. I definitely subscribe to the theory that it's always best to pick one ball and stick with it. Last year I played the 330RX all season and generally liked it a lot. I feel like that as a 9 handicap with a mid to upper 90's swing speed that ball fits my profile pretty well, but I always wonder if I'd really be better served by going with a ball designed specifically to reduce sidespin for amateurs like one of the new e6 models or maybe the new Q Star Tour which seems like it should perform similarly plus has the benefit of a urethane cover. Ugh! Too many options now days, and I'm too cheap to buy a whole bunch of different balls just for testing purposes.

How the ball reacts on greenside shots is #1 IMO. How do you usually hit pitches and chips?

A good swing in the long game is a good swing. Any ball on the level of the 330 will give great long game performance. It's how it interacts with your short game that matters.

I very rarely hit a running pitch or chip. I want them all to fly and die. And I feel most comfortable with a really high spin ball. You might feel better with the z star XV which spins a lot less.

But at a 9 cap playing a tour ball you need to find a ball that is good around the green. They'll all be good off the tee.

G400 Max 9* Ventus Red 5X, SIM Ventus Red 6X

Callaway Mavrik 4 (18*) - AW (46*) Project X 5.5

Vokey SM4 50* SM5 56*

Cameron Phantom 5S

I tried out the Volvik vivid this weekend and really liked the matte finish, but the low swing speed compression didn't match up with my swing. I'm definitely going to give the Vivid XT (higher compression) that's coming out next month a shot, it was virtually impossible to lose a ball and liked the feel for the most part, just lost a lot of distance.

A bad day on the course is better than
a good day at work!

So far I've tried the Bridgestone B330, Srixon XV, Chrome Soft X and Nike Tour Platinum. I still need to try the new TP5x which I'm very excited about and the new Pro V1x.

Right now it would be:

1) B330

2) Chrome Soft X

3) Nike Tour Platinum (absolutely surprise, ball absolutely performed for me)

4) Srixon XV (I went in thinking I would be playing this ball and I just didn't like it at all)
